I ❤️ getting bug portraits, but to document interesting biological interactions is 💯. These plants had aphid infestations tended by fire ants. Lurking were aphid predators: a silver fly approached cautiously (its larvae feed on aphids), while a spiky hover fly larva sat among the ants.
