When I still had PSVT, caffeine caused problems but alcohol didn't. Had that ablated, now with just PVCs, it's the opposite. I can drink coffee/tea within reason, but I have to severely limit the alcohol. I much prefer it that way!

My grandfather owned a first edition set of the Mars books. It's been 25-30 years since I last saw them, and I can't remember the covers anymore, I don't think they even had dust jackets.
Something I didn't know until a couple months ago was that this wasn't unique to Auschwitz - I visited Terezin/Theresienstadt and discovered they also had "Arbeit Macht Frei" painted over a stone entryway.
Super useful info here.
While in Prague last week, visiting Auschwitz wasn’t possible due to timing, so I took a day trip to Terezín/Theresienstadt instead, and spent the hour long bus ride reading about its history.
They all sound like they’re written by the same person.
This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.
Community action works.

My daily comics visits include @dcorsetto.bsky.social @jenniebreeden.thedevilspanties.com @erikamoen.bsky.social @itchyfeetcomic.bsky.social as well as the usual Calvin & Hobbes and the For Better or For Worse rerun. Keep meaning to see what Aeire of Queen of Wands has been up to.
One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.
I've only been to three WorldCons and not since 2006 (August is a bad month for taking off at work), but I have had my share of entertaining interactions. I don't think I've ever met a SFF writer or an industry bigwig who wasn't willing to schmooze for a minute.
WHO DID THIS?!?!?
Preferably with less dancing. Did not enjoy that part. The rest was a hell of a timesucker though.
Michael Whelan covers were responsible for a LOT of my teenage book choices at the used bookstore.
They also remind me a little bit of Pazuzu, the Mesopotamian demon from The Exorcist.
I was a free-roaming latchkey kid in the 80s that wanted to watch Thundercats and Fraggle Rock. Alpha Centauri came along in 1999 when I could stay up all night playing it and nobody could tell me not to!
Liverpool. Lovely city, but dear god too many people marinate in the same shitty perfume.
Nick Cave, without hesitation.
I’m in another country and I *still* get mistaken for someone who works in a shop while I’m idly staring at a shelf of things.
A surprising number of my decisions this weekend have involved mud or thorns.
Heading off to Wales on this fine and sunny St David’s Day.
I’m waiting for a train to St Pancras (transferring to Euston). The sign says “delayed due to trespassers on the rail.” lol Hertfordshire.
Ooh Nando’s I haven’t had that in forever and I am starving.
In London on my way to Stevenage. It’s a good thing I pooped back in the airport, because the Piccadilly line departing Heathrow would have shaken it all out of me.
In a happy coincidence, I will be in Wales in time for St David’s Day.
Cool Ranch always reminds me of going to the beach at Dam Neck in Virginia Beach in the late 80s/90s, because that's what we packed in the cooler, and whenever I eat them now, I instinctively expect a hint of sand and Coppertone in the flavor crust.
We're going to offer TSA services soon and the background check I had to complete was very similar.
Thanks for the heads up - I've got a paper copy from 1993 that's been read to pieces like the Velveteen Rabbit, and a digital copy is just the thing to keep it from falling apart any further.
Microsoft is going to price gouge you by adding their genAI to your subscription without your consent, and they are not transparent about how to avoid this bullshit.
Here's how to change your subscription back to "Classic" for a lower charge without Copilot: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffi...
Thank you for telling us about this, you are doing the Spaghetti Monster's work.
PSB did a signing with NG at Balticon in 2005. I’d already met NG before and was a fan, but I was more excited to meet PSB and have him sign my 25+ yr old copy of The Last Unicorn that had been read to pieces like the Velveteen Rabbit.
