A Hakko FX888DX soldering iron (and the holder/cleaner thing for it). They seemed pretty popular and super well-regarded, so I decided I'd give it a shot.

I've been hesitant since basically it'd mean buying a device with older e-ink tech (lower resolution/slower refresh?) and I'd have to jump through hoops to use it, potentially be missing updates that have features I want.

Are there any truly good open e-readers? Something that isn't locked down so I can throw any random html/pdf/txt/whatever on it?

I'd probably still be using it if I wasn't running into lead-free solder which I can barely heat enough (and it takes like 20-30 seconds to actually heat the joint after the iron has warmed up).
