Yes! They were such a nice exception to the usual harem dynamics in dramas.

The soundtrack was composed by Jerry Goldsmith, and this track is still my favourite.
I caught up on movies a bit, many years later, once I finally had regular access to TV and lived in a city that had a cinema. But this one I actually got to see in theatres that same year. It happened on a weekend outing with my dad and my sister, and we kinda flipped coins between this and Speed.
Oh, there were so many great movies coming out that year! The one that impressed me the most (and made me buy my first every OST) was The Shadow. (Although Stargate was a really close second. ๐)
No confirmation email ever appeared, but my credit card got charged with the correct amount, and today my membership card arrived in the post. Including a letter with all the new contact info and explanations about revamping their websites. Phew! I'm so relieved! ๐ซ
I'm currently in the middle of The Unclouded Soul. She's great in this one, too. We'll see if that can kick it from the throne. ๐
Both of us have watched it more than once, and so far it's my favourite Seven Tan drama. ๐
Such a good drama! Bestie and I love it to bits!
Okay, five dads done, two more to come! I love the revelations on the third dates so much! Also, I might suck it up and give up on trying to get 100% on the achievements. I'm just too bad at that mini-golf game, no matter how much I practice. #DreamDaddy
He was such a good snake, too! I loved his mannerisms in L&R, he really leaned into it.
I love that drama to bits, and that final arc was just *chef's kiss*
Yeah, that was hard to watch. But making it to the final episodes was totally worth it for me! Suddenly the story was so queer, when before it was almost painfully hetero. I was delighted!
If you ever get to #NobleAspirations, be forewarned. Both Li Yifeng and Cheng Yi suffer a lot in this one, too.
It was my second drama of his, and I started it mainly because of him. It's not perfect, the tropes are familiar, but I would say it's absolutely worth watching. It's one of my favourite dramas of all time, and I've watched it five or six times by now. Maybe my rec here would be helpful to you?
Yes, his final drama got released in 2022. I started watching in Spring of 2019, and he had several big budget dramas and movies released during that time, some easily available on Netflix, too. And plenty of his popular older stuff was on Viki back then, so I got to watch a lot of his catalogue.
When did you start watching? He got cancelled mid 2022. I found him more or less by accident (all thanks to DMBJ), but I managed to catch up on plenty of his dramas and movies. (I even watched both a modern undercover cop drama and a modern military drama for him! And wrote fanfic for both!)
Li Yifeng - it's funny, because he kind of sneakily wormed his way into my heart. There was plenty of beautiful competition on my favourites list, but he moved up steadily, until one day I just gave up and finally admitted to myself that he'd become my no. 1, pig nose and frog eyes and all.
He and his characters still occupy a huge amount of real estate in my heart, and I would love to watch the dramas I've saved, or finish writing my fics - but I even thinking about it feels painful.
I've watched and loved some that contained e-sports, or gave them a try for certain actors, but I vastly prefer the historical stuff.
I've only watched snippets of The Borgias so far, but I kept being enchanted by Holliday Grainger's Lucrezia. She's so beautiful!
I really miss having someone like that! I have plenty of favourites, but I don't have THE (active) favourite any longer. The one I'm willing to take risks for with genres, who gets me to step out of my comfort zone. Whose face makes me happy just by looking at it, and who inspires me to create.
Oh, difficult! Currently, I don't have any favourites that would tempt me into trying without the addition of favourite tropes. My heart is still hurt, my no. 1 still hasn't been replaced since he left the industry. With everybody else, I need more than one reason to watch a modern drama.
I don't mind complicated characters who make mistakes, but I'm rarely tempted to watch modern dramas. There have to be really good hooks for me to give one a try - like favourite actors if they're really high on my favourite list, or a combination of favourite tropes. ๐
I loved that first half! Had it continued like that, it would have been a 10/10 drama for me. But with the course change, it went down with every episode, and I got more and more angry. If I'd watched until the end, I'd have given it a bad rating. But I don't rate dropped dramas, only finished ones.
Yes, it is. The video is mostly scenes from season two, with some moments taken from the last ten or so episodes of season one.
I discovered so many of my favourite actors from this drama! Cheng Yi, Liu Xueyi, Mao Zijun, Yang Xuwen, Allen Ren, and many more!
I'd love to, but it rarely works out. It's prime summer vacation time, and usually colleagues with family have booked time off already.
You could watch the first half and then drop it. ๐
Yes, I didn't like his character much, so that didn't help at all.
Yes, exactly that! The SML becoming more and more the prominent character and pushing ML to the side is what annoyed me the most about this drama.
Oh, ouch!
