Fossil Fuels Are Not The Futureโฆ.
Germany just activated its largest ever solar installation โ one farm, 1.5 million homes, zero carbon. The #CottbusSolarPark covers 3,500 hectares and produces 2.1 tw-hours annually, replacing two coal plants that operated on this same land until 2022. #SolarPower #ActOnClimate #Renewables

Measurements by buoys at four latitudes in the western Atlantic provide the strongest evidence yet that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation is weakening
Graphic announcing the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 call. It shows the opening date (9 April 2026), closing date (9 September 2026), and a budget of โฌ399.05 million. The design features scientific visuals such as cells, a leaf, and lab elements on a dark background, with the European Commission logo at the bottom.
Big opportunities for researchers ๐
We are investing nearly โฌ400 million to help researchers share their work and collaborate with the best scientific teams across the EU.
The 2026 Marie Skลodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships are now open.

A few days late, but we started field work in the Netherlands this week. Using red wood ants, we assess phenotypic plasticity of stress responses over the season using ants collected in the field and their acclimation to warmer climates in the lab. @uva.nl #marie-skladowska-curie-actions #msca
We found that Rickia wasmannii, known from Myrmica workers, also infects queens, males, and larvae, with spillover to nest associates (incl. Lomechusa).

Interesting study about ozone affecting nestmate recognition and eliciting aggression in ants ๐.
Post Doc Job open with us to work with biologists to build AI models to analyze camera trap data. The specific focus will be to study animal coloration and camouflage, but there will be opportunities to work on other related projects.

I will have a look into that. Thanks.
Thanks for the input. I will have a look into this as it seems to be the most flexible and low budget option!
Thanks, that may also work.
That is a great idea, thanks
Thanks. I was thinking about them. They are slightly too expensive for the project, I fear.
For a project, I want to film ants ๐ each hour over several days, but only for about ten seconds. I would want to watch the videos later on.
Now I need your help BlueSky community: Is there any setup/blueprint that we could use to build it ourselves or is there a company with low-budget solutions?

(3) Hybrids have also expanded 200 km northwards coinciding with the expansion of climatic conditions suitable for hybrids.
Our results suggest that hybrids perform better under warming climates than their cold-adapted parent, and that recent climatic changes can lead to range expansion of hybrids.
(2) Hybrids have a higher genomic diversity & are active earlier in the season than its cold-adapted parent. Further, hybrid offspring emerge earlier in the season.
Hybrids also withstand acute heat better than F. aquilonia.
These results suggest a competitive advantage of hybrids over F. aquilonia.
