Leonard Leo’s Becket Fund, a far right Catholic religious liberty law firm, wants it to be legal to discriminate against the children of lgbtq families.

If you’ve read the thread posted by palantir on X and are shocked, please read this piece that @tlecaque.bsky.social and I wrote 9 months ago. Palantir has not been shy about its fascist agenda, and neither has Karp, who has been rambling about Western Supremacy in text & video form for a while now

Facebook and Instagram Tighten Censorship Rules for Saying “Antifa” Meta’s new rules let it ban users or suppress comments that include the word “antifa” alongside “content-level threat signals.”

«If ‹antifa›is mentioned in the context of ‹references to historical or recent incidents of violence› … that post will also be penalized. Should Meta apply this rule as written, the company could … restrict posts comparing the antifascist nature of World War II to the contemporary antifa movement»

I read something unrelated, by a writer whose work I enjoy, to remind myself of the pleasure of writing and language.

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X
Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Border-area mass surveillance and its resulting harassment is something you'll hear about if you talk to any person that lives near the border or who has to cross it regularly.

The Warehouse, in Plain Sight That concrete box off the freeway wasn’t designed for storage so much as capture. It’s a disappearing machine. We need to see it clearly.

Why is ICE buying so many warehouses, and what does this have to do with the warehouse's shifting place in the US economy? In Places Journal, I chronicle the long arc of Warehousing's carceral geography and the speculative building boom that ICE is absorbing. placesjournal.org/article/the-...

Cenk’s smart enough to know that “Patriots versus Israelis” is just Die Volk versus Die Juden rephrased and that makes doing it unforgivable. It’s a play for the Fuentes set, and that he feels the need to go after that group to make money and gain followers should tell you something’s rotten.

It wasn't August Bebel who coined the phrase "socialism of fools," refering to antisemitism. But do we know the source?

Tweet from Elon Musk: "*Soros Organization has taken over Hungary"

Antisemitism is structurally necessary for Elon Musk's politics, because he wants to brand himself as the insurgent populist fighting the elite, but as the world's wealthiest person, he needs a definition of "elite" that is not strictly rooted in wealth or corporate ownership.

Horseshoe theory is inseparable from the promotion of centrism, the presumably moderating, balancing middle against "extremism."

Besides, Platner's supporters are indeed centrists, making an argument for bipartisanship with "Trump supporters."

There are no "horseshoes" in politics.

Every figure used as an example has a prior history of holding Right wing views that they briefly try to erase from memory — eg: Gabbard's homophobia, Greenwald representing Nazis.

Repeatedly dropping slurs and then doing a non-apology redemption tour — as with promoting antisemites followed by a media release about Seder — is his whole brand.

Platner was designed in a DC lab to "appeal to Trump supporters." The fashy dogwhistles aren't seen as a flaw by his endorsers.

X post from Wendy Wang of the Institute of Family Studies:
The real U.S. fertility story is the massive drop in fertility among women in their 20s.

The birth rate for women in their 20s has fallen nearly 40% over the past two decades. This is the group that has carried the most weight in determining the direction of the overall fertility rate.

As we all know, women's prime fertility window is in their 20s, not 30s or 40s.

Relying on women to catch up their fertility in their 40s is not going to help much.

@FamStudies
[plot showing childless women's odds of ever having a child, based on NSFG surveys of 46-50-year-old women in 2015-2023. The curve declines with age, accelerating at age 30.

It really gets my goat that these people are all in on promoting the idea that your fertility (or fecundability, if you're a demographer) plummets after your 20s. Listen. Plots of birth rates by age that show the highest rates in the 20s *are not* evidence of "prime fertility" being in your 20s.

The trouble with betting on the support of Christian evangelicals is that their faith tradition around The Rapture (at least the one requiring Jews in the Holy Land) only really got mainstream in living memory, and there was really no reason to assume it would permanently keep the same shape
