My skin shows cracks & marks, symbols of my illness, a daily reminder that death increasingly pulls me to the bottom of the river with its dark hands. My calm and indifferent gaze shows my acceptance w/out fear, embracing the unknown. The scene is my “lake of souls,” a metaphor for the uncertainty of after death... the depiction of my feelings towards my belief and disbelief. The hands are gentle, mournful and concerned, they mean our history and our ancestors, and they offer the best of us, their legacy: art, knowledge, culture. My nudity speaks of birth, fate & the beauty of life — It's a spark of light that shows that even bitter things can hold sweetness too.

Grace tried over several weeks to tell Robin she wasn't a "master" of anyone. While Robin finally stopped using the word, it's still obvious that Grace is her entire world and she exists for nothing else.

Upon awakening, Robin immediately acknowledged the "human" as her master, much to Grace's chagrin. Not only did she have to explain the advances is human simulation technology, synthetic humans just weren't subservient like they were before - they had rights!

Robin was now perfect in her eyes; she had lovingly restored every yellow accent and cleaned every piece of Robin before meticulously reassembling each component. She knew every part and its function by now. Her favorite color had even changed from purple to yellow.

Try as she might, Grace was unable to penetrate the algorithms that made up Robin's memory structure. She worried about what personality might emerge once she brought Robin online, but by this time she was absolutely smitten.

Grace added wireless capability since even humans could connect wirelessly; that's just how things worked these days. She decided against upgrading the wiring systems because she found the assembly of plugs and wires endearing, perhaps even cute.

Her external connections were all plugs and cables, while modern synths mostly connected wirelessly. The only port on a modern synth was the hardwire backup installed behind the ear.

After the first month, she began addressing the wreckage as "Robin" after the logo on each of the defunct power cores. Going through the parts, it became apparent to Grace how ancient this synth actually was.

Grace found pieces scattered across multiple containers and shelves, so she collected every piece she could find. She brought the pieces home, and over the next few months, worked on the reconstruction of the seemingly ancient synthetic human.

Grace was in another abandoned industrial facility, her favorite place to source rare items for either sale or incorporating into her unique style of jewelry. Both humans and synths seemed to love the pieces she found. She came across a ruined storage room and discovered pieces a synthetic human.
