Shots I got of one of the Malayan tigers. Hardly stellar, but still probably the best photos I’ve taken of this subspecies, which I’ve seen at much fewer zoos compared to Amur and Sumatran.

Remember when that Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life book I (co)wrote appeared on The Sopranos? Yeah, me too. My 2001 Dorling Kindersley book, co-authored with David Lambert and Liz Wyse, might be the most influential book I've ever been involved in. And...
This is a marvelous change not only for the Humpback whale 🐋 population but for all of us. We need to keep our gentle giants from going extinct.

I've written a bit about writing, given that I've now published numerous books and hundreds of articles. One point I emphasise is that good writing takes a-g-e-s. It's painfully slow. I keep count of what I get done in a day and it might be shocking how little gets done, per day, on some projects.
Screengrabbed comment explaining how animals like crocodiles are not living fossils at all.
Over on Instagram, Slash shared a reel from a content creator all about the 'living fossils' concept. Whenever someone promotes this stuff, it's basically always misleading and only partly correct. I posted this comment...
This is of course not counting the Southeast African cheetahs that are being used as proxies in India. Strangely, there’s no evidence of Northeast African cheetahs despite them being geographically far closer than the Northwest African subspecies.
I was not expecting this….DNA analysis seems to indicate the historical presence of Northwest African cheetahs in Saudi Arabia! Turns out the Asiatic cheetah was once not the only subspecies to inhabit Asia!
