I think he's been incredibly unlucky and people are understandably holding Game 7 against him after a tremendous Sept/Oct, but he's been a negative WAR player on the Jays. You can't keep running him out there.

So far as a Blue Jays his pitching well was September up to Game 7. He was a negative WAR player last year. Even if he's been unlucky this year (and he has), it's a pretty tough hole to climb out of when it's getting progressively worse. Might just be one of those years for the Jays.

Great article. I genuinely appreciate your level-headed takes. However, I was a bit surprised to hear the glowing discussion of Jeff Hoffman's September/post-season last year. Even with a hot finish, he was a negative WAR reliever with a FIP of 4.9.
