Very relatable. Had the same reaction when I first bought it. The minimalism was scary + convoluted. You had to learn where things were hidden instead of simply having everything right there. Plus getting used to gestures instead of just clicking things.
It took a few months but I got used to it.
I swear I clicked the right setting on #postybirb but it seems I still had mods add the adult warning. I might need to start posting it separately? Not sure what I'm messing up.
