No. A 13yo MacBook is still fast, in fact faster UI than Linux. The problem is a lot of software won't run. Whereas it's fully supported by fedora, bar a little tussle with the wifi. I never tried fedora before, really impressed compared with Ubuntu.
I just installed fedora on a 13 year old MacBook which no longer receives security updates. Great experience!
