Last summer, a threatened population of Chinook salmon benefited from major restoration work in the Nootka Sound region of Vancouver Island.
The results were almost immediate, with hundreds of salmon returning to spawn in the newly restored habitat.

Results show that Pacific herring are the most important food for Chinook salmon in the Salish Sea.
