Zelda let her hand wander over the rough bark and then she cowered on the upturned root that had invited her the first time she came here, too. She didn't have to wait for long. Silent like a street cat, the golden wolf jumped into her vision from behind the tree, trying to draw the startled reaction he received from her when he did it for the first time. He must have been a mischievous soul once, under all the chains that fate had put on his heart. A single, red eye settled on her face and his ears flickered back, as if he estimated her, as if he decided every time anew if she was worthy of his time. Then, he growled quietly and rested his snout on her thigh, nudging her to rub his head.
