TRUST TEACHERS. Two words that, if people actually widely believed them, would utterly reform education in this country.
Occasionally I recall volunteering at the Seattle Science Center during the music exhibit in 1996. You could play a theramin, it was cool. There were stations for music representing each decade, and the representative for the 90s was They Might Be Giants “Istanbul Not Constantinople,” and,
A very sweaty middle aged lesbian wears a keffiyeh in upper highland park.
Finish line. Free palestine.
A mural in the style of Banksy under the Glendale overpass. A small child is looking through a telescope. At the wide end of the telescope, in a different hand, someone has added a peace sign, like peace is the star the child is seeking.
I choked up when I saw this mural
A tulip blooming in the colors of the Palestinian flag.
I saw some excellent flowers along the way. They all agreed: Free Palestine.
A chart of splits. It trends downward very slightly until about mile 6.5, at which point it fucking bottoms out dramatically.
As you can see from my splits, I hit a wall. And stumbled on.
A screenshot of the moment that I finished the virtual Palestine half marathon, immediately after burping so dramatically that a small child visibly judged me.
This was my slowest half marathon finish by far, and had it been any other race, I probably would have dropped. But I kept going. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
A still from a video of a dilute pigeon flying. Its wings are spread dramatically. It is the color of a pale pebble.
An excellent pigeon.
I’m waiting until the weekend to finish, but you and I need to talk ❤️❤️
Are you talking about The Pitt the series or just the finale?
This was a reference to the Challenger.
Everyone in Young Gen X has a very specific trauma memory related to this image right?
Wait what. The firs part is like yes canon. Is Webster really doing part two???
My plant collection was so cute when it was small.
The board voted at its March meeting to require transgender students to use locker rooms and bathrooms that match their sex assigned at birth. The superintendent said social workers would meet with the affected students to go over the changes.
In case it is unclear: your ethical and moral obligation is to refuse to participate in enforcing this. To validate that this is wrong. To push back and stand with trans kids. To offer safe bathrooms. It is not to make it palatable or tolerable for other adults.

To clarify I’m talking about answering questions on chat. I have no idea what my patrons are up to irl.
I love staffing the live chat. It's like speed librarianing.
I can't speak to your specific institution, but most "Ask a Librarian" chat widgets, especially at academic libraries, are not bots. They're staffed by actual, human librarians (like me!) who are qualified to assist your research.
I am 100% certain that I have answered questions from patrons in their underwear.
I have such a distinct memory of discussing Palestine in class in 2002 (because that was a thing we could do at NYU at the time), and a classmate asking if I was Arab (my name is Irish but often mistaken for Arab), and responding, "No, just morally opposed to genocide."
One thing that drives me crazy is the way that even pro-Palestine media will casually describe the genocide as beginning in 2023. The entire state of Israel is based on the massacre and forced displacement of Palestinians (genocide!) and that didn't start in 2023.
It’s ravioli. It’s obviously delicious.
Many things are terrible but today I made homemade ravioli with a mushroom, almond, and tofu ricotta filling, topped with crispy sage. And it was fucking fantastic
Extractive Zones in the Digital Age day 2. We're halfway through Siobhan Angus's absolutely brilliant talk on the social relations governing land use as documented in images related to fertilizer. Seriously drop whatever you're doing and get in this webinar. events.brown.edu/cehab/event/...
This is an excellent pigeon.
This has also been my experience at NASSR! Great panels, inspiring new work, challenging questions, and the hallway conversations!!
happy to be of service.
for just $8.99 you can preorder my book about the US government’s centuries-long effort to remove Indigenous children from their homes and communities.
it comes out in august, and I will guarantee that you’ll learn something, even though it’s for middle schoolers.
I guess I should have checked first! Oh well. I hope that eligible members make a good choice.
