Furry revelers dancing in a bar, backlit by a wall of screens.
I managed not to crumble into dust the moment I walked in. It helped that the DJ was spinning a oontz oontz remix of Journey’s Separate Ways, which felt like it helped bridge the gap. I should really be sure to bring a fursuit on future work trips, just in case.

I was informed by @mirkowuff.bsky.social that @foxtrotclub.bsky.social was going on like a mile from my hotel, so I dropped in on it for a bit. It’s a neat event at a nice venue, hats off to the organizers for putting it on!

An ad on the Denver airport people mover showing a close up of the airport’s iconic giant horse sculpture “Mustang”, commonly known as Blucifer. The horse is rearing up, and it is blue with glowing yellow eyes.it is concerningly gaunt and looks like it has a pretty serious meth problem.
I’ve only ever seen Blucifer from a distance, rearing majestically over the prairie, but I’ve got to admit seen close up that’s one fucked up looking horse.

So the general consensus seems to be “we try to avoid downtown”, which as a Chicagoan: fair. Hopefully I’ll end up with some free time to explore beyond downtown, but regardless I get to ride a whole new (to me) light rail system, and isn’t that the whole point of traveling?

I’m going to be in Denver for a few days for a work thing next week. Unfortunately I don’t yet know when or if I’ll have sufficient free time to meet up with anyone, but if anyone has any recommendations of good places to grab food or a drink near downtown I’d love to hear them!

Huh, Costco does their own sparkling energy drink… 200mg caffeine? Maybe I’m a lightweight but that seems like a lot for a 12oz can.

What the world’s most hated avian reveals about people
How the bias against the cormorant took flight
The Economist clickbaited me with a headline about “the world’s most hated avian” without saying what it was. Pigeons? No, that’s just undeserved contempt. Canada geese? Maybe… (click) It’s cormorants? Huh, I guess I’m out of the bird hating loop. www.economist.com/culture/2026...

I really like the way this has recognizable nods to Richard Scarry’s Busytown art without just 100% cribbing his style. I should get a shirt with Lowly’s apple car on it.

Don't ask how I came across it, but the coat of arms of the London borough of Enfield made me laugh, so I had to redraw it. Big ups to the Enfield Massive

This really does sound like our equivalent of Joseph Kennedy’s “I got out when I overheard my shoeshine boy giving stock tips” 1929 moment.

Donald Trump was posting on Truth Social until 4:10am, including an image of himself as Jesus and multiple posts of the same article, raising alarms about Biden’s cognitive decline.

Obviously there are far bigger problems with the man, but I wish he was better about using alt text for images he posts. I’d like to know if that is indeed Jeffrey Epstein Trump-as-Jesus is laying a healing hand upon, and if two of the figures emerging from the clouds are a Gundam and Admiral Akbar.

A detail from a Pivot Pool box, showing a 1970s looking family playing happily in a wood paneled room, an image of Lucille Ball, and the words “This is my favorite family game.” next to her signature. Ms. Ball looks surprised and maybe a little angry, like someone confronted her with the question unexpectedly.
When I was little my family had a Pivot Pool- a mini pool table with a pivoting spring loaded launcher you’d use to fire the little cue ball into the other balls. I didn’t understand celebrity endorsements so I figured Lucille Ball was just crazy about the game, and I still choose to believe that.

The good news is that whoever they’re sending that AI generated slop to can have AI summarize it for them, so nobody needs to convey or consume any information themselves.
It’s a perfect self-contained system, like a vibrator in a fleshlight.
