Oh, the sheer irony of Poilievre and his bobbleheads screaming
" Axe the Tax" repeatedly for months on end, and then voting against a plan to axe the tax over the holiday period.

It mandates government to work in consultation and co-operation with #IndigenousPeoples to bring laws into alignment with the UN Declaration, to develop & implement an action plan, & enter new types of shared decision making agreements. 3/5
The Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act creates a path forward to respecting the human rights of Indigenous Peoples, while introducing better transparency, predictability & accountability in Indigenous–provincial relationships. 2/5
Today (Nov. 29, 2024) marks the 5th anniversary of #BCs #DeclarationAct coming into force. On that day, the province became the first in Canada to uphold Indigenous human rights in law – to adopt the internationally recognized standards of #UNDRIP. @UN Declaration.gov.bc.ca 1/5
A significant victory in the Supreme Court on BC’s legal fight against opioid manufacturers.
Great part of the judgement:
“The opioid epidemic spanning our country is a stark example of a crisis which attracts this co-operation and comity.

Donald Trump is speaking during a campaign rally. A headline reads: "Trump Disavowed Project 2025 During the Campaign. Not Anymore." Photo by Doug Mills/The New York Times.
During the campaign, Donald Trump swore he had “nothing to do with” Project 2025. Now, as president-elect, Trump has filled his administration with people who have ties to the right-wing policy blueprint that would overhaul the federal government. nyti.ms/3BhAxxA

Canada once thought monitoring and regulating the price of essentials like groceries was a good idea.
The Food Price Review Board was an initiative born out of the David Lewis-led NDP & the Pierre Trudeau minority Parliament, amid the global oil shock of the 1970s.

I opened a book and in I strode
Now nobody can find me.
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon

TORONTO - A new report says mental health across Canada is three times worse than it was before COVID-19 and access to care varies widely across provinces and territories.
A new one today!

Please, if you are able, support Independent bookshops.
They are the literary & social hubs of our high streets and communities.
Without their continued support, we simply wouldn't be around to publish .
Thank you.

Nearly 400 books removed from school libraries in one Tennessee county. Based on my skim of the list, most of them appear to be books by women, authors of color, &/or LGBTQ+ authors.

A painting with a vibrant blue background with lines circles and birds. At centre is the outline of a bison. Inside are thousands of dots formed in patterns of stems leaves and flower reminiscent of Métis beadwork. The background within the bison is black, the dots of colour form the plant patterns. Some of the patterns are of berries, strawberry flowers and oak leaves. Some are just patterns drawn from my imagination. The bison is floating in the background as if suspended in space or water.

Take only what you need is a fundamental law of nature. The corporatocracy that governs the earth at the moment is diametrically opposed to our survival, and the survival of all species.
We need local food security, and efforts towards that must center justice for the migrant farmers who are growing so much of our food.
