Flu is at a record high, RSV, Noro, and yes still Covid are running rampant. There are pneumonia and TB outbreaks. Everyone seems to be miserably sick right now. Genuinely asking: is there ever a point where people will decide that masking is less inconvenient than constant illness?

Would love some clarity about air in LA given the rain. Everyone said we’d need a good rain before the air is better. But is it just *fixed* now or will it still take time? Ppl were saying it wouldn’t be safe for 1-2 years, with all the cleanup etc. How does the current rain factor in to all this?

I promise you, there is not a single friend of yours who masks who wouldn’t be thrilled if you put one on too when you’re with them, without having to ask. No need to guess or wonder if they’d appreciate it. 100% of the time, they appreciate it.

David Lynch Reveals Emphysema Diagnosis, Can’t ‘Leave the House’ or Direct in Person: ‘I Would Do It Remotely if It Comes to It’ David Lynch revealed he has been diagnosed with emphysema and can no longer direct in person or leave the house.

David Lynch’s death is a heartbreaking loss, but I think it’s important to remember he spent his last years unable to leave the house, because no one else took Covid precautions, and put him at terrible risk. Who are you harming with your refusal to care about others? variety.com/2024/film/ne...

Really helpful video for people who have questions about the air in LA! t.co/M4PJMVEYbw

Every covid infection increases the risk of long term issues. If you’ve had it 4 times, that’s better than 20 times. The best time to protect yourself was five years ago. The second best time is this very minute. 13/13

If this resonates with you but you feel like it’s too far gone at this point, it’s truly never too late to start protecting yourself again. If you’re in LA and masking outside, keep your mask on inside. If you are elsewhere, start masking again. Even sometimes. 12/

But just like people believe with their whole hearts that the wildfire smoke is fine because it looks fine and they are told it’s fine and everyone around them is acting like it’s fine, you might have fallen for messaging that Covid is safe to keep getting. But it’s not. 11/

Nobody likes to feel like they’ve fallen for propaganda. We think of ourselves as smarter than that and we don’t want to feel like we have been bamboozled. It’s easy to double down when confronted with this. 10/

They were wrong about the air after 9/11. They are wrong about the LA air now. Why is it so hard to believe that they are wrong about Covid? 9/

If the only reason you think Covid is safe is that everyone else is acting like it’s safe, or if it wasn’t “that bad” when you were infected but you have weird new health issues, maybe try to gently examine that. 8/

Yes we have vaccines now and they’re amazing but they don’t prevent transmission, rarely prevent infection, and don’t prevent long covid. The acute emergency phase may be less dangerous now, but the long term effects are just as devastating and are worse with each infection. 7/

Other than the fact that other people are acting like it’s safe? When you can see with your own eyes that MANY people are acting like the wildfire air is safe when you know in your bones that it just doesn’t make sense? 6/

Can you actually explain how covid, a vascular disease that shut the world down and damages our immune systems long term and is the reason we’re all struggling to recall common words, is somehow safe, other than the fact that they told you it’s now suddenly safe? 5/

The ppl exposing themselves to wildfire air without protection think they are rational humans following guidance. You know better than that because it’s OBVIOUSLY unsafe. So why would Covid somehow be safe to get repeatedly just because you were told it’s somehow ok now? 4/

Ppl walking outside maskless in LA are told the air is safe even though you and I know it just can’t be. Ppl who stopped masking in indoor public spaces were also told it’s safe to keep exposing ourselves to Covid, but it doesn’t actually make sense that it would be. 3/

I need you to know that this is exactly how people have felt for years about Covid. Before I lose you and you think, “that’s stupid, they’re not the same” I invite you to gently examine why they might be. 2/

It’s such a mindfuck to see ppl walk around in LA without masks because we KNOW the air is toxic. Even if the AQI is good, 9/11 showed us that the air was deadly even though officials said it was safe. It’s mind boggling to see people walking around like everything is normal🧵1/

It may seem like it’s “not the time” for Covid talk, but Covid never left and if you’re wearing a mask anyway, you might as well keep it on to protect yourself and each other as much as possible. We are more vulnerable than ever. Air is shared. Let’s take care of each other ❤️

LA people, if you’re masking outside for the air, please keep them on when you enter indoor public places. Covid is still circulating and hospitals are overwhelmed and we need to protect ourselves as much as possible right now. It’s all connected. Stay safe. I love you all.

Eating a messy deli sandwich and I reached for my gf’s partially used napkin. She pointed to the two unused napkins and I was like I have to keep those untouched the whole time just in case and then throw them out.

Covid damage is cumulative, so with most people getting it over and over and over with no signs of stopping (no mitigations, virus continues to mutate) AND viral persistence from past infections, it makes sense that it’s getting worse.
