& I understand that alt tags are super easy and easily automated so exclusionary practices are laziness & disregard once one understands their value.

I remember when alt tags had the secondary benefit of making web sites more usable as they took several minutes to load over dial-up!

WGBH instilled a strong inclusion/accommodation in me, but I still ponder the value of some accommodations in some situations (wheelchair-accessible bathrooms in a mountain hut accessible only by 4 hours of steep, rocky climbing, for example. A real thing, btw) & explore this thoughtfully I hope.

All good points that are not obvious for people who have little contact or interaction with blind folks. I don’t think missing the value of alt tags is a “cancelling” offense, but everyone should follow accounts according to their values. I worked at WGBH who created several inclusion technologies

I'm confused. I'm sincerely asking; what value does a channel of cute pictures of kittens have to the blind? What value do 365 #cutekitten ALT tags (say, in a year) have to anyone? Should photographers carefully curate their posts to ensure value via ALT text?
