ME: How's it look?
MECHANIC LOOKING UNDER MY IMAGINATION'S HOOD: *wiping hands on a rag* I see your problem. You've been filling this thing up with despair when it's supposed to run on joy.

👍 100%!!
Same!!!
100 hugs to you! 🫂 I am so, so sorry you experienced that.
I have experienced these types of rude questions also! Some people have crazy expectations that we should just offer up our medical histories or backgrounds to them is just really gross to me.
I am so sorry you had to hear that, especially as a child. And, I feel that trauma to my core - my mother repeatedly told us the same thing growing up (as well as how much we were in debt/owe her for having us, etc., etc. because we asked to be born and all 😑).
Not an unpopular opinion at all! It is something I have to remind myself when asked about my life choices by those who are clearly miserable with being married/having children.
“Whatever” is a great answer because people who ask those kind of questions should not be given a respectable response, IMO.
Yes! The expectation of having children/getting married resulted in people I know living miserable lives. I raised my younger sister from a very young age and decided that was enough child-rearing for me and no one is owed the explanation and family lore they think they are.
I have been “told” that so, so many times! I never did change my mind either - so, solidarity with you, Marlena. It irritates/ed me to no end when I am told my decision(s) are not real or they are laughed at.
My most old (old maid) coded opinion is that you do not need to have kids (procreate) if you don’t want to. It is absolutely ok to be childless, happy, and to give no explanation when you are (rudely) asked why you have no progeny.
(This opinion also applies to marriage)

Yes, I did, and thanks, I did enjoy it. You have a nice day, too.
