Yes. It’s telling that while we were all talking and singing so much about being free, we were also preoccupied with what “they” were feeling outside of the church. If we actually felt free, that would’ve been enough, but we had to keep telling ourselves that it was actually worse out “there.”

I think I fully believed that all those people not in church, going to brunch instead, were secretly miserable and lying to themselves about it and had no idea what they were missing out on. Then you stop going to church and sometimes go to brunch and it’s like, oh this is fine actually.

This is why it’s so crazy to me how hard local businesses will fight against reducing car traffic and making streets more pedestrian friendly. People walking by will notice your shop and might stop in, people driving by won’t even see that your shop exists!

I’m an engineer, but the HS class I think I valued most was AP English. Every class was a discussion, we’d have to come up with and defend our own thesis for each book, all writing was done in class as a practice AP test, no writing and rewriting 5 different drafts of something at home.

Yeah, the larger corps I’ve rented from have apps to submit requests, full time maintenance staff, and it’s always been quick and easy. The individual landlords just knew a guy who had another full time job and would cancel 3 times before finally showing up to fix whatever several months later.

My problem is I wake up at 5 or 6 anyway, so it’s only a couple hours, and I feel like if I were able to fall asleep again (debatable) I’d be woken up from a deeper sleep by an alarm and feel worse.

BUT I absolutely do think there’s a procrastination component in trying to put off going to work. :)
