People call your opinion controversial when it is part of a loud group of people that another loud group of people disagree with. It's not that your opinion is rare, it's that it's annoying because it's heard a lot and is disagreed with.

Here's the thing most 'controversial opinions' are only controversial because there are enough people believing it to be a known opinion. Nobody says "The Star Wars Holiday Special is the best Star Wars" so it's not controversial.
