Reform's plans to end indefinite leave to remain go to the post I wrote last week on their slide towards chaotic authoritarianism.
The British constitution would allow them to do it if they had a majority but at vast cost to our society and way of life.

My MAT leave starts next week, so starting to wind down by waving goodbye on here until October!
My wonderful team will be carrying on the incredible work we do to train history teachers while I take on a new challenge over the next few months!
Chart shows the effects of Sure Start on academic achievements by age, SEN support by age, probability of hospitalisation by age and criminal behaviour up to age 16.
NEW: Sure Start generated widespread, long-lasting benefits for children in education, health, absences, and SEND.
Every £1 of up-front spending on Sure Start could generate around £2 in total benefits over the long run.

Sure Start centres saved UK government £2 for every £1 spent, study finds
New Labour initiative created ‘remarkably long-lasting’ health and education improvements, says report

Looks AMAZING (as expected) - how exciting ☺️
What Labour should be doing is creating a new narrative about immigration - about welcoming people who make a contribution but reducing the numbers who don't.
Pretending to be super tough pisses off liberals and won't be believed by Reform voters.
We would love to see lots of new teachers sharing the histories they think need to be told!
PLUS - anything you submit to the Planning Lab will automatically be entered into our Curriculum PATHS Ethical Awards: curriculumpaths.schoolshistoryproject.co.uk/2025/03/22/e...
The Planning Lab builds on the work of the Curriculum PATHS Planning Hub but for work you have not yet fully tested in classes. Why not get some inspiration here and find out what Curriculum PATHS is all about: padlet.com/cpaths/shp-c...
You can submit things solo or work together on a submission.
Are you a beginning / trainee #historyteacher? Think history can help young people reflect on issues of truth and justice in a complex world? Want to share your ideas with others?
Why not contribute to the @1972shp.bsky.social Curriculum PATHS Planning Lab. padlet.com/cpaths/shp-c...

The Ireland series on @empirepoduk.bsky.social is so, so worthy of your time. I've loved Irish history for a long time (shout out to @liverpooluni.bsky.social Irish Studies modules!) - but it should have more awareness amongst our history teachers. The parallels with wider Empire are fascinating.
A much needed long weekend in the SW with friends. Helped along by the sunshine ☀️
Check out Geography, Music and Science Subject Development Lead roles within our fantastic subject team. We’re hugely proud to place subject specificity at the heart of our teacher training and ECT programmes.
Since 2022, Teach First has run our unique two year Initial Teacher Education programme led by a Head of Geography (me!), and supported by expert Subject Development Leads. We’re one of the largest training programmes in the country, and we’re recruiting to add a fourth to the team!
Horrendous news. Dawn‘s expertise was inspiring, collaborative, and genuine in the pursuit of better education for pupils and teachers.
Sending love to friends and family at this heartbreaking time.
Happy birthday ☺️

Sending you both best wishes and keeping you in my thoughts.
This is a great, uncomfortable piece. Thanks for writing, Claire.
Beautiful day 🌼
The Beyond Paradise - Death in Paradise double was a great start to the weekend!
Know anyone who might be interested in this excellent CDP opportunity working with our fabulous scientific archives and books? Please share!
This morning’s gym session was soundtracked (finally) by @empirepoduk.bsky.social Ireland series. I’ve been meaning to get around to this for ages so was a treat to get started!
We are looking forward to seeing @htenuk.bsky.social colleagues tomorrow AM as we meet for our Spring Conference to hear from @tompalmerauthor.bsky.social & @knight-rupert.bsky.social & reflect on how their work might help us support & develop #historyteacher #HistoryEducation #TeacherEducation.
Nowhere quite like home.
