I appreciate my modern ability to pull museum collection records using APIs etc, but DEAR GODS is it frustrating how there is no standardization in how entries are created.

A can of Libby’s Corned Beef Hash against a plain background, showing the red label with a bowl of cooked hash on the front.
It legit tastes like corned beef hash. And now I am kind of let down about this revelation.
So after a whole life of wondering what the deal with Spam is...
youtu.be/EjFIp66DL7s?...
Slices of SPAM and round bologna-like meat grilling on a flat-top griddle, with several round pieces cut to look like Pac-Man shapes.
Growing up, Spam was too expensive for our family. We bought bologna instead.
**NO, Spam and bologna are NOT the same thing.
Wall of stacked SPAM cans arranged in tight rows, each can showing the blue label with an image of a SPAM sandwich on the front.
OK, so I'm having Spam for the first time in my life. It's been on my shelf for years (literally).

I will NOT be buying anything until they take down all this garbage. And if they don't do it soon, well, I'll close my account.
A screenshot of a live chat window with Etsy customer support. The Etsy Support Bot says the estimated wait time is 1–3 minutes. Then, a support agent named Nora joins and introduces herself: "Thanks for reaching out us, I'm Nora from support team and it will be a pleasure assist you today." The user responds in a dark blue text bubble: "Hi Nora-- I know you are not responsible for this, but I need to know why is Etsy letting people sell merchandise for 'Alligator Alcatraz'? This is hate speech. I was going through and flagging all the items I found, but then realized... this is not my job. It's Etsy's. What is Etsy doing to combat this horrific merchandise being sold?" The message is timestamped at 12:51 PM. The chat input field is visible at the bottom of the window.
A screenshot of an Etsy customer support chat. The support agent, Nora, replies with a message in two parts. First, she says: "We understand that certain products may feel upsetting or out of line with your values, and we appreciate you voicing how this particular item made you feel." Then she continues: "We take feedback like yours seriously and regularly review listings on our site to ensure they align with our policies and community standards. While individual sellers manage their own shops and product offerings, we strive to maintain a marketplace that respects a broad range of perspectives while staying within our guidelines." The user responds in a dark blue message bubble: "It is out of line with Etsy's purported values as well. This is glorifying a concentration camp. But now I know Etsy's stance. Thank you." The message is timestamped as "Sent · Just now." The chat input field is visible at the bottom.
A screenshot of a continued Etsy customer support chat. The support agent, Nora, responds with the following message: "I’ll be sharing your input with the appropriate team for further review. Thanks for taking the time to let us know, and we encourage you to continue reaching out if you come across anything else you’d like to bring to our attention." The message is timestamped as "Just now." The Etsy logo is visible beside the message, and the text input box remains at the bottom of the chat window.
I WAS going through and flagging all the items being sold with the "Alligator Alcatraz" stuff on it, then I got angry that Etsy wasn't doing this themselves.
I was on their chat with customer service to complain. Here are the screenshots of what was said. UNBELIEVABLE.

When will we wake up and DO SOMETHING about these oligarchs in office? They only see other humans as commodities.
I love that I know my students aren't using ChatGPT for their streams-of-consciousness assignments because they keep misspelling the name as MAdea!
A list of Queens area Buy Nothing groups from a Facebook search.
You'd be surprised sometimes what people would love to receive from you! Outgrown baby clothes, extra food sent by a restaurant by accident, school project supplies, old furniture for practicing carpentry, leftover cupcakes from someone who works at a bakery...

I HIGHLY encourage you to find yours on Facebook and join. Makes giving things away super easy! Make some space and help out a neighbor. Fewer items wind up in landfills!
