If your dream is to get rich, disappear, and flex on IG, then buy a lottery ticket and hope for the best.
Real wealth comes from building something valuable within your community or becoming so skilled that others pay you to build in theirs.
Wealth isn’t the destination, you get it on the journey

They put a Whole Foods at Walter Reed and South Dakota Ave got a fucking Aldi 😩😩
Hypocrisy is a privilege. It’s something to earn through building enough power to enforce your own standards.
When you see the powerful switch positions without shame remember that.
The ability to contradict yourself without consequences isn’t random. It’s tied to power, influence, and resources.
We’re the first generation of adults navigating digital distractions while trying to handle real responsibilities. There’s no perfect formula.
The TL will still be there after you’ve done something that actually moves your life forward. Set boundaries. Take control. Watch how much more you get done
One of the biggest lessons in business? Money is a construct. We made it up.
The same way you don’t shop when you’re hungry, you don’t build a business with a broken money mindset.
Fix that first. Then build.
I don’t know the why exactly, but I do recognize the how. We are put automatically in buckets, “community outreach”, “social impact” etc without even getting the chance to prove that our idea or method is universal
Black founders are too niche, can't scale
Black investors are too niche, can't scale
Black musicians, global appeal
Black entertainers, global appeal
Black athletes, global appeal
Why do we box in talent in business but celebrate it everywhere else?
Faith builds what strategy alone cannot.
Business plans mean nothing without the spiritual foundation to weather storms. Discipline. Sacrifice. Vision.
As we observe Lent and Ramadan, I’m reminded that these principles transcend faith traditions. True builders understand this.
They say the doors are closing for Black founders.
VCs are pulling out of Africa. DEI is dead in America.
But I see windows opening. Smaller targeted funds. Tighter founder communities. A more resilient culture.
I’m so excited for what we’re building. Stay the course. Keep the faith.
Tech bros in 2023: "AI will replace humans!"
DeepSeek in 2024: "Actually..."
Funny how quick the narrative shifted from:
- Replacing workers to augmenting them
- Exclusive access to open source
Almost like helping humans was the point all along.
The revolution will be open source.
The next move is them questioning Black History month. They will say it pushes divisiveness amongst Americans and its exclusionary to other races. Some might even argue it misrepresents history. After all we’ve come so far what’s even the need in today’s society. Schools and corp 1st, then govt.
One of my favorite things about Jeopardy is how many contestants are from the DMV
I turned it off when they took Hojlund off I thought the game was over 😂😂😂
The way African food spots in DC stay packed with Caribbean, African American, and even European customers tells you everything.
Our flavors are universal, we just need more people bold enough to scale these businesses beyond one location.
The demand is already proven 💰
Just found out sweet sweet kitchen opened an H St location and immediately found myself in there for an order of cassava leaves. DC really is the US hq of African restaurants. I’m actually spoilt for choice it’s crazy
About time
Also it’s not inconsistent for everyone 💅🏿
Bluesky is just flat out not fun. I know they said there are 20M accounts on here but it just doesn’t feel like it. Tbh it looks like Threads is the best option for those trying to wean off Twitter. Hoping the experience here improves
You: Uncle Jide, I loved my visit to Africa what should I invest in?
Me: BUY LAND IN AFRICA!
The development pattern never changes:
1. "Smart money" quietly buys land
2. Malls and schools appear
3. Property values 5x
4. Everyone else says "who could have known?"
"$1K is too small to invest in Africa"
Meanwhile you drop that same money on meme coins and watch it evaporate in real time.
At least that Turkish spot you love in Accra is selling actual food to actual customers 😭
Who’s having a better year than Tiakola? Après Minuit is the smoothest track I’ve heard in a min. This will def be my go to all Detty December
I saw a discussion about how the diaspora was a dead end.
Funny because I'm watching Senegalese merchants build beauty empires, Ethiopians franchise coffee shops globally, and Ghanaians turn December into a multi-million dollar festival season.
Seems like some people just aren't paying attention.
Yes of course there are! My advice is to find a good community here stateside which will plug you in with the right folks. Start with @afropolitan.bsky.social
The best investment to make right now is land in Africa. Go to your favorite African city and look who owns the prime spots we're paying rent to.
The best time to buy was when they called it "middle of nowhere." The second best time is now.
Find community here first. @afropolitan.bsky.social is a great resource. Find events, use Eventnoire to find different events in your area
Y'all saying "$1K is too small to invest in Africa" while Lebanese, Turkish and Indian retail investors are making real money running basic services we use every December.
Simple things: hotels, restaurants and transport.
No one's saving Africa, they're just doing business where we party.
We listen and we don’t judge but I think it’s crazy how we'll spend $5K on December trips to Africa but act like investing there is "too risky."
Foreign companies buying up prime real estate.
They're building wealth in our hotspots while we're just building bar tabs.
These 25 degree days and 4pm sunsets forced me to pay a mortgage to United airlines for a ticket outta here.
My mental health specifically requires emotional support sunshine and 90 degree weather
It’s an extension of the Africa tax. A global price that black people pay everywhere. Get the worst of everything but pay the most
Airlines really charging $3000 for a middle seat to Africa in December like we're flying to Mars.
And still will serve us that mysterious meat with the dry rice. Tired of paying the Africa tax on everything
