'Bubble Hell' refers to online studies that are pages and pages of bubbles. They hate it.

The term was coined by a redditor on the subreddit r/mturk on Mar 4, 2014.

Later picked up by the co-founder of the subreddit Turkoptican, Six Silberman, used in his dissertation.
Now an industry term.

Finally this long-last meta-research is done!
We examine the demographics of subject from 1000 Chinese psych journal articles & 27 big-teams science.

Findings: these participant are not representative of the 🇨🇳population, in terms of sex, age, & edu.

An underappreciated #stats point is in the majority of cases we aren't analyzing DATA.

We use data to get means, variances, & covariances.

Then we analyze those to get model parameters.

This is why we can create synthetic data or share means with variance-covariance matrices to reproduce results.

Retest reliability, memory accuracy, long-term effects of interventions.
