Looking forward to doing a talk this afternoon at MIT.
My new book on the Declaration of Independence, out in November, is now available for pre-order, which is especially exciting because I still have talks for my previous book over the next few months in MA, TX, NC, TN, NY, CT, NJ, PA, MO, and CA.
A pile of Anna O. Law's Migrations and the Origins of American Citizenship and one copy propped up on top. The cover is an USA flag with a figure of a man behind it like the stripes are bars

Yeah. I worried in advance that they hadn’t won in like 4-5 matches and would be due for a good performance. And that’s what happened. Not having a proper 8/10 also hurt not in terms of attacking but also as an outlet during moments of pressure.
His theatrics are annoying enough but to then follow them up with a boneheaded error… He wanted the cameras on him, well there you go.
Talking about City’s “barrage” when they didn’t have a shot on goal.
The match is so tactical that it’s going to come down to a moment of magic.

And when you go to sue them for malpractice, your lawyer will have used AI to get through law school, etc…. We’re heading toward a future with no actual human expertise.

I’ve written all my work on it since 2009 including both books.
Legal scholars: does anyone know of good research on what the Founders thought about the pardon power? I'm trying to figure out it was intended to be as unlimited as the plain text suggests it is

Sociogram showing early national Americans who corresponded about historical writing, research, and publication.
My book, Past and Prologue, has a chapter that covers networking in the revolutionary era over issues related to historical writing, research, and publication. It’s also available as a conference paper on my website. mdhattem.com/wp-content/u... and includes this sociogram.
Is there anything funnier than Richarlison being mad or frustrated?
Looking forward to doing a talk tomorrow at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. Minnesota Monthly included the talk in its “Best Bets” of the week for things to do along with an Eagles tribute band. The event is hybrid so you can register to watch it remotely. www.mnhs.org/events/38217...
Today's release of the Canal Dreamers audio book made me realize that I should pin a thread with links related to the book. Starting with the @uncpress.bsky.social website:
