As the price of natural gas spikes across Europe for the fourth time in the last five years remember those extremely clever people in Reform and the Conservatives who want to abandon renewable energy and rely even more on gas 🤡 🤡

Reacting to Labour's devastating loss to the Green Party in Gorton and Denton, Keir Starmer claims that only Labour can unite communities. I agree. He convinced Muslims to vote for a white working class woman representing a party led by a gay Jewish man.

William Shakespeare wrote this speech 400 years ago about people in London wishing that immigrants go back to where they came from, performed by Sir Ian McKellen on the Stephen Colbert show:

Just a word of thanks to our fantastic media. Despite my racist bullying at school, having a senior colleague imprisoned for being a traitor, breaking the MP’s Code Of Conduct 17 times, my dodgy house purchase and even being in the Epstein Files, nobody is demanding I resign!

ReformUK paid return envelope to Glasgow

ReformUK paid return envelope to Glasgow

Postie brought a leaflet from Reform UK today, in Glasgow. Incl a 2nd Class postage paid envelop. If you get one, remember to post the envelop back to them, empty or perhaps with a special message. Every envelop returned will cost them 85p. If every Glasgow household does that, cost will be £250K 😂

These "I'm not a racist but..." types need half an hour listening to this lass, who should be made President of South Yorkshire.

I am begging, begging Labour to look at the last five decades and realise that catering to the far right has never, ever won their votes or succeeded at making Labour “look tough” on immigration.

Even at Blair’s peak, he was attacked for being weak on it.

Please. Just. Stop.

You wouldn’t vacation in Dachau in 1935. Don’t vacation in Florida in 2025.

💊The NHS is battling "medieval" levels of untreated illness in some of Britain's poorest communities – at a cost to the health service of about £50bn a year, or the same as the defence budget.

My big read from Barrow, Blackpool, Burnley and Blackburn:

Time and again, those with the broadest shoulders contribute the least, while the most vulnerable are asked to tighten already-unbearable belts. Sunak pays a lower effective tax rate than a nurse. That should prompt reform at the top, not punishment at the bottom.

The BBC has confirmed it won’t air its documentary on Gaza’s medics. I know some of the journalists involved and they’re absolutely excellent. This statement is mealy-mouthed; you can’t “both sides” the facts on the ground of a genocide, and there’s a clear public interest in documenting those facts

Since becoming an MP, Nigel Farage has managed to fit in nine trips to the US, has held down twelve jobs, which earned him nearly £1million, but has been too busy to hold any surgeries for people in Clacton who actually voted for him.

Brexit was a referendum on whether the UK should leave the European Union.

The UK has left the European Union. Referendum fulfilled.

If the people bleating about "Brexit Betrayal" wanted the Referendum to enshrine their pet policy preferences, they should have included them in the question.

Tell Reform voters about this as often as you can. Farage's agenda is exactly the same as Trump's - he'll just be better at dressing it up.

Sir, With Reform's victory in the Runcorn & Helsby by-election, a process that threatens to result in autocracy has begun. History tells us that all autocracies begin with populist movements making undeliverable promises.
When it is clear that the promises haven't materialised, blame is applied to everyone other than the populist. First the forces against populism are blamed, then the media and eventually the judiciary. We are seeing this in an accelerated form in the United States and will shortly be seeing it in the UK.
The pattern never varies, from 1930s Germany to modern-day Russia. It starts with one voter wishing for a painless means to achieve the unachievable, instead of accepting that difficult decisions are painful.
Voters who supported Reform will be the ones most likely to suffer.

Sir, Nigel Farage has attributed his party's success in Thursday's local and parliamentary elections to worsening illegal immigration. This from the man who repeatedly assured the electorate that Brexit would result in our being able to take back control of our borders. As always, Farage appears to have the answer to everything but the solution to nothing.

Farage and Reform whip up people’s prejudices, then offer to get rid of what they hate.Their power feeds off ignorance and hatred. They make people angrier about the stuff they fear, then promise to fix it. Of course they won’t. But they know who to tell you to blame when they fail.

Labour needs several million buckets of ice-cold water poured over their head and the nation's church bells ringing in unison as a very loud wake-up call. Hopefully, this is it.

People voted for hope and change and vision not Reform lite and the same old Tory shite.

Nothing speaks to the current state of Christianity more than the fact that atheists can give Pope Francis credit for trying to follow the teachings of Jesus while “Christians” like Marjorie Taylor Greene celebrate his death because he challenged her to do the same.
