Expanding this block printing project to drapery panels makes this work free to travel, to spread their messages in hopes to reach even just a few. There are many natural occurrences in nature to confirm queerness exists, bilateral gynandromorph observed in butterflies and moths is the subject of this work. These brightly coloured works printed from 52 individually carved lino blocks celebrate these unique beings and the natural diversity that has always existed. Each wing quadrant can be mixed with others, to create numerous wing combinations. The patchwork patterns that emerge are a reference to quilting making, community care, and solidarity with all unique beings. May this project serve as a reminder, we humans are not superior beings, we're just one part of the greater natural systems on this planet we call home, We are ALL part of nature. All packed up and off to an art residency for the month of June in Newfoundland
This piece features large text, the word Stonewall is featured at the top with the T missing from the word, this is in response to the national parks removal of trans people from the Stonewall monument. In the middle of the piece are large letters T L G B stacked and shifted to appear as if the L G and B are working together to keep the T in Stonewall. Surround those letters are small objects that could have been thrown during the Stonewall Uprising at the beginning of the queer rights movement. The small items are a molotov cocktail, coins, a high healed shoe, a glass containing a drink spilling out, and of course a brick. Behind the items and the letters T L G B is the latest rendition of the inclusive pride flag. Below that is the word Solidarity, because we know what happens when one groups rights are attacked, the rest of ours will be next. May this serve as a reminder that queers didn't get to where we are today without trans folk. It's clear rights are being chiseled away from our friends and chosen family members. This is not the time to sit idle, the L G and B have been singled out, so we need to be the ones advocating and supporting them. Regardless of how many times they try to erase people from existing, I'm confident there will always be a T in Stonewall, because I trust the love I've seen coming from this ever growing community. Unit our love and respect for our queer kin and we'll get through this together, just as we always have. Let's help lift one another, solidarity ✌️❤️🌈

This image inspired by a true story where a young man's life was snuffed out after he could no longer afford asthma medication. Illustrated in gray scale marker is a plastic bag over a human head, the words Profit Til Last Breath are painted with gold in large block letters covering the majority of the head, the bag is tight and wrinkled to illustrate the lack of oxygen as the words also conform to shape of wrinkles and facial features. Around the neck painted in gold is a rope wrapped twice and pulled tight and extending off both sides of the artwork, the bag handles protrude from the bottom portion of the neck tightened by the rope. This 2 tone gold and gray mixed medium work reads Anger Is Valid 1.5 degrees celsius in large font that form flames above a silhouette of a burnt out and a fire fighter pulling a hose with the word breached in gray tones jumbled up and floating in an upward direction like smoke. This piece inspired by the epic wildfires in LA. For those unaware, we humans have breached 1.5 degrees celsius of warming, we were warned about years ago. We are now at 1.6 c. We should all be very angry. The future is being stolen from all of us, but it doesn't have to be this way. Remember back early 2020 when many of us were in awe of how quickly nature will heal if we just stop! I have hope we can unfuck ourselves but large numbers of us need to divest from the current system.
The future is going up in smoke, it doesn't have to be this way. Turn anger into action.
