the anger i feel at myself every time i see something i feel i should be worrying about just straight up guarantees my own uselessness. i can yell at myself all day about how noone cares about my feelings and what a privileged position i am to be able to bury my head in the sand.

i will say i cant hang out here which is sad because even being surrounded by folks with values of which i am at least vaguely in tune, seeing current events being discussed makes me feel crushingly doomerish. which is unproductive and i dont like much.

in this SPECIFIC regard the bogus ai vomit is not the problem itself but the most recent symptom of a long term trend in communication - probably even starting pre internet. idk. communication that doesnt say anything. its not new, but it can be made more easily than ever.

so as much as i have disdain for their ai replacements, i cant help but feel some validation in that something being so neatly replaced by a 'chat meaningless but passably coherent shit' machine proves that none of these things had any worth to begin with.

its because typically these things were worthless to begin with. they were already serving a purpose other than conveying valuable information or spreading genuine sentiment. they were designed to satisfy some other, much more cynical parameter already.

the conclusion i cant help but hurtle towards is that if something can be made with generative ai it really wasnt worth making. Like theres a reason why shortform video content, clickbate articles, waffly public figure statements, resumes, and linkedin posts are all popping off with AI so much.
