99 problems. Not great, not terrible.

Ok. Read the complaint. Key factual claim is that the comedic translation ignores the context that makes it wrong. But…the context is in fact being presented with a lion, not a human king. So…good lucky buddy. (Many legal problems too obviously.)

Two factual defenses come to mind before reading the complaint: (1) aren’t these pretty close to the real translated lyrics?; (2) this makes the song seem way cooler to me

Polygraphs are pseudoscience and it is an embarrassment that our security services use them so extensively

Originally thought due to NBA context that the San Antonio Spurs were somehow being sent down. But now I just think we should add that dynamic to American sports

It feels like it's still winter, doesn't it? To trees, it is not. Tree dormancy is not caused by weather but by internal chemical signals which protect trees from cold. Now, most trees are ready to grow as soon as it warms a bit. This photo shows the tremendous flow of sap. Read more at Our Trees.

Apocalypse no: how almost everything we thought we knew about the Maya is wrong For many years the prevailing debate about the Maya centred upon why their civilisation collapsed. Now, many scholars are asking: how did the Maya survive?

A fascinating - and in places heartbreaking - long read on Mayan cultures, past and present. Archaeology, languages, politics, & identity in medieval and modern Guatemala.

Progressive messaging about homelessness should always at least mention the most important root cause—housing cost! Failing to do so is such a missed layup on leading the public toward durable and popular solutions.

It isn’t a crime to be here without status. Some but not all forms of getting to that point are crimes.

Security theater undermining activism is a real thing that happens all the time. People need to sit down and actually learn how to think through threat models.

Not every SPD officer wants to follow that statute. But some do! And making sure they are informed about what is a violation so they can report it to the AG is valuable.

This is a great start. Would help to make sure SPD gets annual training on WA’s excellent statute concerning ICE cooperation: www.atg.wa.gov/keep-washing...

We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.

There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.

This is my favorite guide.

Convinced this cover exists just to ragebait chess players. I get the basic visual metaphor. But why nine pawns? Why is the board rotated 90°? Why is the king moving into check?!

I’m running for Colorado Attorney General to stand up for the people of Colorado—including holding ICE officers accountable when they break the law. Thankful to join so many others outside the ICE Denver Field Office today.
