Preller's Padres, a history | Baseball Bits YouTube video by Foolish Baseball

I announced in January that I would be re-tooling my channels. More video on Foolish Bailey, fewer videos on Foolish Baseball, but of longer duration. The newest episode of Baseball Bits is finally here! And it's 49 minutes about The A.J. Preller Experience.

Bednar, Iglesias, Chapman if he doesn't vest 40 IP, and Helsley if he opts out.

Bryan Abreu is in an interesting spot. Contract year. Consistently been one of the best relievers, but only 16 career saves. Hader might not be ready Opening Day. He's less than a year away from being the #1 closer on the free agent market, without having consistently closed.

Hitters really do have a lot of control over their batted ball distribution. Max Muncy hit just one (1) opposite field groundball in 2025. When you're as committed to pulling the ball in the air as he is, the reverse rarely happens.

The Dodgers signing Kyle Tucker has made their intentions clear: they want to win the World Series.

These projections are my favorite part of the HOF tracking process. Really helps demystify the differences between public & private voters, as well as the effect of year-over-year net gains. Andruw Jones with a 90% chance of reaching the threshold is noteworthy here.

Baseball Is Ruining Gambling | Baseball Bits YouTube video by Foolish Baseball

Someone had to be brave enough to say it, but we can't let something as pure and American as gambling be tainted by sports like baseball. My argument: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyKH...

Really glad that that back ailment Acuña had was just another example of that @foolishbb.bsky.social tweet where it's like "Every month Acuña dies, misses a game or two, comes back, resurrects and hits a leadoff dinger"

They should put me in the Home Run Derby just so we can appreciate how great everyone else is.

Not really impressed by Ohtani's balanced skillset as a two-way player. I am also just as good at hitting as I am at pitching.

They’re fixing the true source of societal rot: girls middle school shuffleboard

With the TV money slowly dying out (except for a few of the big contracts), I guess this is the most efficient way to take money from people who watch sports.

I wonder if there will ever be any real pushback on legalized sports betting, or if there’s just too much wealth to be extracted from the lower and middle classes for a Come to Jesus moment to occur. You’d expect some form of dissent from social conservatives, but I don’t see a temperance movement.

Until 1913, baserunners were allowed to run in a straight line across the diamond from 1st to 3rd on a single, provided they could avoid the pitcher trying to tackle them. This was known as the “gambler’s shortcut.”

One piece of analysis I can offer right away is that his name and my name have a lot of similar letters.

This is a good find. After the Woo video, I got curious about guys like Schneemann who didn't hit in college, but hit in the bigs.
