I’m no expert but seems to me this is not good news for burrowing owls. Did ANY experts have input into this plan? Or did politicians do it all by themselves? (Read this in ‘sarcasm’ mode)

Because they have the crazy idea that it is supposed to turn a profit or at least pay for itself. As have different stripes of govt. Some things are public services. Big city dwellers in the south might not think so, but it is a needed essential service in many remote communities.

Yes in our yard too. Maybe even a bit more. One hand hoping for a gradual melt to minimize flooding. OTOH, enough winter already!!

In the 16 years I’ve lived here, my earliest to get a canoe on the water (opens up first downstream of the blue bridge) was March 20 or 21. The latest was May 3 or 4. Feels like it could be even later this year. 😩

How many boxes did you buy?

Publishers are unprepared? I’m unprepared. They should be required to put AI on the cover as the author. So I can avoid buying it.

We also love winter. But as my husband is saying these days, the first 6 months wasn’t so bad, but I’m done now.

I know someone else with a WL dog that also looks like there is some border collie /no husky in him and shares these traits. Been on a river trip with that dog. he was great. Totally devoted to his owners even after I shared bacon with him every morning! A WL sub-type of community dog maybe?

Yup been wondering about that. Been involved with the River for a number of years. This feels like 2021 and 2022 all over again

As a young teenager I had a t shirt with a characature of Pierre with a rose in his teeth doing the famous pirouette (the one he did behind the queen’s back that time) and the words fuddle duddle .

Wanted to go to this but was was otherwise engaged. Read Fireweather and it was such a good analysis and yes scary too. Definitely worth a read if you haven’t already. Was this presentation recorded do you know?

Watched original Star Trek with William Shatner et al on a major network. Sometimes we had to adjust the rabbit ears.

There’s Ireland with what looks like a light fleece jacket. You could go winter camping in those Canadian ponchos. In the Yukon even.
