By doing things this way, you'd be growing the sport in your area and potentially allowing for youth development to thrive. Plus it would prevent one club from gaining an advantage in their respective pyramid.
Now I'm not saying that you're stuck to the small club round the corner. If you're born in London, you can play for ANY London team. But only within a certain radius.
But you can also declare for another club if your parents hail from there.
