All modern sports science points to the importance of preseason for the building of a base level of elite fitness which is then maintained through the season. We don’t get that building time. It can’t be got back. Next season will be different.

Every fitness issue this season is due to players being given additional time in preseason to grieve the loss of their friend. Are you saying that was the wrong decision?
