Oh I agree that what Marvel's likely doing here is exponentially stupider by comparison. Was mainly just pointing out that this practice itself wasn't as new or far-fetched as I'd seen some people react as.

They need to do this the way comics actually do it: release "Road To Doomsday: Revelations," a short, tie-in movie with a dogshit story that entirely exists to retcon and housekeep the parts of the plot they need to get in order for the movie itself.

Tbf there *is* precedent for this. Both the original Star Wars and Back to the Future had bits of them tweaked when the decision was made to produce sequels.

Hell, Tolkien famously revised The Hobbit from its original version to make it more compatible with what he was doing with Lord of the Rings.
