Pygmées en péril à l’Est de la RDC - Base Info 450 Dans l’Est de la République démocratique du Congo, la situation des peuples autochtones atteint un niveau alarmant. Au Nord-Kivu et en Ituri, les communautés pygmées vivent sous la menace constante des attaques des ADF (Allied Democratic Forces), un groupe armé responsable de massacres répétés contre les civils. Ces violences dépassent le cadre d’incidents isolés et s’apparentent à de véritables tueries systémiques. Des villages sont incendiés, des familles décimées, et femmes comme enfants sont brutalement pris pour cibles. Face à cette insécurité persistante, des milliers de personnes sont contraintes de fuir leurs terres ancestrales. Ce déplacement forcé entraîne la destruction de leurs modes de vie, l’effritement de leurs identités culturelles et la rupture du lien vital qui les unit à la forêt, principale source de subsistance. Dans ce contexte, l’activiste pour la justice sociale et environnementale Seth Tsongo se distingue par son engagement en faveur de ces communautés marginalisées. À travers son plaidoyer, il dénonce les violences, alerte sur le silence des autorités et insiste sur l’urgence de protéger à la fois les peuples autochtones et les écosystèmes qu’ils préservent. Selon lui, la défense des droits humains ne peut être dissociée de celle de l’environnement. Déjà vulnérables, ces populations font face à une double injustice : la violence des groupes armés et le non-respect de leurs droits fondamentaux. Le manque de reconnaissance de leurs terres, leur exclusion des politiques publiques et leur accès limité à la justice contribuent à maintenir leur voix dans l’ombre. Aujourd’hui, plaider pour les peuples autochtones de l’Est de la RDC n’est plus une option, mais une urgence.
