in interactive we have more tools than probably any other medium to “show not tell”, but I quit most games I start these days because they tell me how a moment or a character feels instead of inviting me to inhabit it. I enjoy when text is responsive and not didactic.
rather than show me a movie about where we are going and why, can you place me on the journey and let me explore it myself? At any given time does the game have a good reason for me to be clicking thru text instead of playing it?
in narrative design I find it frustrating when a game uses a dialogue scene to convey information that could be shared in an embodied, interactive way. don’t have a character describe herself; let me look through her things

La interasantísima aventura de terror con elementos de gestión de tiempo Cult Vacui, de @lbrty-games.bsky.social y @dionous.bsky.social me ha enfrentado a cierto dilema y a la búsqueda de un punto de encuentro:

Y a pesar de todo, de ser una esencia de rolplay que me resulta agradable, da la sensación de que este tipo de narrativas son, quizá, el fruto de meter a calzador cuanto más mejor, porque estructuralmente son rarísimas y porque, vaya, la sombra de la IA es muy alargada. Ojalá haya sido intencional.
Hay un buen puñado de secundarias de este estilo, super atípicas, casi anodinas. No pasa nada, la solución que proponen es la navaja de Occam: alguien te pide algo, te das un paseo del punto A al B y se encuentra una solución que es la más lógica, sin violencia ni movidas intrincadas.
En el Crimson Desert un vendedor de miel al que sus asiduos le dicen que la miel no sabe igual que antes, te pide ir hasta el colmenar, un poco alejado, a ver qué está pasando. Al llegar y hablar con el encargado, deduce que eso va a ser por el nuevo método de envasado, que lo cambian ya mismo. Fin.
