Reminder that even if you’re “protesting” and not doing federal taxes this year (which I think is ill advised for many reasons we can get into later) you should still file for your state. In many cases states have been our only check on federal overreach and their budgets are already suffering.

TurboTax is WHY you have to file taxes. It’s very not free for many people, and they spend billions of that profit lobbying to prevent free govt solutions to replace them. It’s not a “a trap to audit ppl”, many audits cost more than they recover.
