If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

Folks: I am NOT affiliated with the group that is using my name to support an economic boycott. Please spread this post, if you would.

Same, only wings for the lads. (Only 2, your favorite is with his friends at college.) And I did have an audiobook in one ear for the boring parts.

The folks in my house are awfully quiet. And my tipsy has worn off but the food was good.

This is minor in the world, even in my world, but I was so proud of myself for going out for a 3-mile, fast walk this morning, and the other day when it was snowing and the days in between. Exercise is not my default during stress at all, and I’m pretty stressed.

Take the walk.

The sweet vermouth is my mom’s tradition, the menu is my married into and birthed/raised family’s. I like the book, fiction with a history chaser, and someone turned off the oven at some point so dinner is a bit delayed. I’ve been doing this for so long, I’m fine with it, a literal “whatever.” 2/2

If you celebrate: Happy Thanksgiving! (If you don’t, happy Thursday!)

Frankly, I’ve done the work to set the stage for family memories for so many years it’s not that hard, but my tradition is to pretend it is. 🤷‍♀️

I’m cooking, sipping a sweet vermouth, and listening to a book. What about you?

Hi! Nice to meet you! We just started a profile for the show, but have no idea how to get added to a pack, help a chick out?

Hi! I started this in '23, forgot that I had it but with the mass exodus from that other formerly blue-logo'd site (which I abandoned for far more serious reasons) I want...need to be here.

Here's some flowers from Monet's Garden in Giverny, I took it last month when hope lived in my heart.

Having our Back to School lunch before sending the youngest off to college, the other two are on their own already.

Husband: We went from five to three now it’s just the two of us in the house.

Me: It’s a battle to the death!

My third, and last, kid is about to head off to college and this? This is a family tradition in the pre-move shadow. (By “this” I mean the trip to purchase and then my assembling at least one of these. )

I love this sentiment, I’m sorry I never met her, but I don’t love that you lost your friend. Hugs for that part.

Some days I repeat “I just don’t understand” so many times there is a beat to it.

Like today.

Well isn’t this a lovely writing prompt that I encountered on a walk by a park today?

What’s the story?

Shit. I just realized that my last 2 posts were about my kid and that ratio is so not me! But it’s been a very long day and I can’t come up with something quippy so accept this photo of part of my Funko Pop collection as a redemption vessel.

Please.

Calendar for September 2023 with one entry: “you have fall tea towels.”

My last kid heads out of the house next month and we’ll be in empty nesting training mode during the school year. Our formerly-packed, family, kitchen calendar has also entered a new phase.

Right?! Super gifted, obvs.

A packed car suitcase, backpack, sneakers and fishing gear in a house foyer waiting for a trip.

My soon-to-be-college kid is off on his 3rd trip in a little over a month: he went to the beach with us, to Iceland with his uncle and cousin, and now to CO with a friend. I’m so happy for him…and it’s good parent training for when he moves into a dorm next month.
(Gah! I’m missing him already!)

1st post! I’m trying to shove my inner cynic aside and be optimistic that I can find my people-former and new-here and enjoy social media again. Things change and it’s okay, like the days of matching Old Navy, American flag shirts for the family. Gone and replaced by this 4th of July ensemble for 1.
