Interesting that the Treaty Ports were included in the 1926 Irish Free State census. Check out form B1 for Lieutenant H G E Borthwick: head of household of 212 males sleeping in 14 rooms. (Fort Westmoreland on Spike Island) nationalarchives.ie/collections/...

Was that just your class? Is it too late for me to ask Mrs Cronin for my half-day?
The end of the line for me as a news reporter was my pieces or my posts being used as launchpads in comments or Quote Tweets for misinformation.

The 1982 quote is the same sense as the IRA quote, but IMO the earlier quotes describe scenarios not really analogous
Blue and white vintage butter label features a woman in a bonnet, cow, fields, and text "Sweet Meadow Butter." Nostalgic, rustic theme.
Vintage butter label for "Four Elms Butter," showing a blue logo with four trees, text indicating Irish creamery origin and one-pound net weight.

Townlands are a rural landscape feature and I imagine few residents of suburban Glanmire know the name of their townland unless they have read the title deeds of their homes. Maps e.g. osi.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappv...
Suburb includes parts of townlands of Dunkettle, Ballynagarbragh, Corbally North, Riverstown, Brooklodge, Knocknahorgan, Poulacurry South, Poulacurry North, Ballinglanna, Sarsfieldcourt, Ballingcrossig. [Listed on the Glashaboy River (Glanmire/Sallybrook) Drainage Scheme] www.gov.ie/en/departmen...
"Glanmire is the townland umbrella name for a cluster of tiny settlements ... Glanmire itself, Riverstown, Sallybrook, and Brooklodge." -- does nobody know what a #townland is any more? None named #Glanmire ; historic centre is in townland of Poulacurry South.

A web search input reads "Isabel necessary on a bicycle" The response "AI overview" reads as follows: No, there is no person named Isabel necessary on a bicycle. "Isabel" or "Isabelle" is not a standard bicycle component, but the search results show the name is sometimes used in discussions about cycling, such as in the context of a blog post about a "death road" in Georgia. You may be thinking of other terms, such as a bicycle bell, a rider's presence, or an individual's personal skill and safety on a bicycle.

The problem is the 2024 act did not change the definition of "built-up area" used in the main [2004] act, which was the council towns abolished in 2014! I wonder if someone accused of doing 80kph in a 50kph zone could argue in court that the 2014 change had abolished all such zones by default?

Unfortunate that the Raise the Roof protest seems to have damped attendance at the Shandon Street Festival ... hopefully, by next year the housing crisis will be fixed
