The drawer with Chat Apps on which I need to support users is growing and growing. I wish we had a federated standard that'd allow them to interoperate, like XMPP.

Could it potentially lead to less tax evasion and a fairer distribution of earnings? Earnings would then have to declared and taxed in the community that bought them, or faxe an equivalent export tax if the revenue is being shuffled around.

Just had this thought yesterday, please tell my it's bad: tariffs on physical goods hinder free trade. What however happens if we put tariffs on services and IP? Could it counteract the usual game of charging IP costs from parent companies in tax havens (common technique to evade taxes locally).
