Also, if they don't have the staff to scale up to match service level, maybe staff costs could be on overtime? That increases cost.

Assume there are core costs related to service levels (frequencies, span of service, train lengths, etc to match rider demand forecasts), staff & security costs. Event security might require a higher standard than usual. (I'm not at all affiliated w. the event or the transit system.)
Thank you, I will dig in.
I'm confused & would like to follow up on it (I work for the city). Where did this get conveyed?
A little louder, for the people at the back of the room. π
Another year means another ETS Annual Service Plan, but this time with a twist!
Come to City Hall on April 26th (RSVP link in bio) to watch a presentation by ETS on what transit in Edmonton will look like in 2026, and most importantly...
A lot of cities have a universal pass (UPass) program for post sec students. In Edmonton, it gives regional access, too. Employer discounts through @work programs are common, too. All in, shared benefit (lower price) is a great model for riders & transit agencies, IMO.
Really excited that the 2025 ETS route report cards are out! They show how the bus routes performed, relative to service standards. You can select each route, review boardings, efficiency & reliability data. π #yeg #transit public.tableau.com/app/profile/...
I also know of a few alternatives that cost way less than owning & using a car. ππππ². Probably a good time for people to switch up how they travel, even just for a few trips a week.
As someone who works in transit (& an Oilers fan), please don't throw any people under our buses (or trains). #yeg
Smaller airports are a little different. Boarding pass is printed when the agent checked my bag, no line up for security, only a Tims by the gate & I found a pay phone.
Deep breaths.
Happy epic early morning hockey game day! Let's go Team Canada! π¨π¦π
Loved reading your reports from the games. I couldn't watch all of them- you did a great job keeping us up to date! π¨π¦
Go team Canada! π¨π¦ π
Love this!
It's so unbalanced! What a lopsided game.
With family in northern NB & pleasantly surprised to see Bathurst has launched an on demand transit solution, Flex-Go. It launched in January & will help lots of people. π

I am far from being alone using transit in the off peak. Lots of people with me on buses & trains as I navigate multiple modes to go to appointments on a day off mid-week, daytime. πππ

This year has been really challenging so I'm focusing on finding daily gratitude moments. Today is starting off with that sweet feeling of arriving on time for the bus (& it's a sunny day). π
π
I was car-free (in another city) for almost 10 yrs & it's b/c I had access to great transit & walkable options to most amenities. I'm a broken record: we need significant changes to bus transit to enable this car-lite/car-free freedom (b/c of our geography & land use.)
Happily distracted by the Olympics for the next couple of weeks. Go Team Canada! π¨π¦
Imagine what we might see if we scaled service to match population growth. π
Forgot my Arc card this morning! Grateful for tap-to-pay; it was easy to pay my fare with my credit card. I also got asked for proof of payment by a TPO while riding the train! π€
Watching curling, while also celebrating the end of the 100 days of January. π
I also squeezed in a shoutout for @etriders.bsky.social and their awesome work. πππ
Happy to nerd out about train consists, ridership analytics & the ETS fan accounts on Instagram. π Thanks for having me on this a.m., @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...
Did you know that there is a professional level bike mechanic school in Edmonton? Among the classes available, Velo West offers a hands-on 4 week intensive course at Pedego Edmonton for mechanics who aspire to build expertise and pursue a career in modern bike mechanics. #yegbike
