Today was not about wine but bluebells for it is the season!

Was blown away by the sheer beauty of the Ashridge Estate today.

Even saw 9 magnificent deers prancing across our path.

A magical day.

Tg it’s Fri hi day! Viña Cubillo Rioja Crianza ‘13 - proper old school Rioja with a cheeky twist.

Bright cherry & cranberry, a flicker of spice with a whisper of old school American oak. Light on its feet, quietly refined and so very drinkable.

Proof you don’t need muscle when you’ve got charm.

All good Jane. 😅 May I ask?

What was your best and worst wine recently? 💪🏼

Mine was a q recent (best) Pouilly Fumé - highly odd I know, and following on a (mega best) blaster from as ever war torn Lebanon. Tbh I’m quite angry right now with the powers that be.

Bad un was a v bad Pinot Noir. Life.

Ah what a lovely, enviable article having now actually read it in a bit more detail.

Tbf I’m very much in love with the 1991 Musar. When in Rome. Or where the Romans feared to tread the grapes.

Thanks for posting Andy. Old bottle prices clearly depend on the asking price? Some of my ancient Musars may or may not could be a bit off but if they are not off at all then they are likely the finest wines known to mankind. #WineGamble #WineNot

That’s fabulously LVMH for you.

Daft as a nun’s brush - soft, furry maybe luxurious but not relevant to the man on the street. As it won’t get used there.

Oh dearie me he’s a very naughty boy. Even I can see what I did there. Jesus complex Trump up. Shame on him. Very disrespectful. Silly boy. 🤪

Brekkie vital! Pls trust me on this. I’m 62 & never missed brekkie yet. Frosties don’t count.

Some have been heart starters & alas some heart killers. It’s all about balance.

Tbf latter meals can get in the way of various tastings of wine - or not.

Brekkie never. A virginal meal in many a way.

NON! In a very French accent.

Hugely admire your work as Dr du Vin.. however.. pls consider brekkie Bircher Muesli à la Vin de Plume? 👍🏼 Jawohl!

You have not quite lived yet Mein Doctor!

Read all about it in my new column ‘Hampstead Kitchen (and Other Theatres of War)’ by moi in spring edition of The Hampstead Village Voice. 💋👍🏼

Even better on day two. Chalky minerality - fine, powdery, buttery texture glides across the tongue. Freshness is electric: zesty citrus (lemon peel with a hint of yellow grapefruit), with a subtle green note - gooseberry on a good day (!) & fresh herbs adds lift. Acidity bright but not aggressive.

It was a pretty terrible film directed by the Dutchman, George Sluizer. He was a real know all but actually was full of BS. The crew had a very ironic saying for him’ you’ll be wiser with sluizer’!

A funny co-incidence! My late father John Clark was Art Director of iconic movie Tommy & I worked with legendary actor Pete Postlethwaite on his next film after The Usual Suspects. It was an absolute stinker called Crime Time of which I was the Location Manager. Pete & the locations were fab. Obvs.

trailer This is "trailer" by Jeffrey Reiner on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

This is definitely a wine movie I want to watch. If it's half as amusing as the trailer, it's going to be a triumph @RandallGrahm. Introducing... "The Terroirist."

A Savvy Blanc that’s not a total disaster.

Probs had a stern talking to in the winery & decided to behave.

All the flinty hauteur of the Loire but with just enough citrus charm to avoid being insufferable.

Not so much a strutting peacock as a well dressed pigeon.

Perfectly drinkable for it.

Well all I can say is.. who have you not bloody well met Basti?!

I’m already exhausted & only on page 74!

Ronnie Wood? ✔️ Pierce Brosnan ✔️ Noel Gallagher ✔️ Jude Law ✔️ (met him too - long story short his ex Sienna, nicked my pen on our intimate Liat flight from Bequia to Barbados. Very cheeky girl!

Oiled ferret? I can see where this could be going? Tbh I do wonder if you have you had any dealings with Richard Gere? I very much hope not as you seem like a serious, rather sensible person. 🤞🏼

Naughty but nice once the elusive green card was sorted?

Deeply saddening.

Where’s the sisterhood care for the (very youthful at the time) other female victims?

Oooof. 😢
