I’m beginning to feel like I’m Severed, using my work hours (reminiscent of Macrodata Refinement) to avoid thinking about all the horrors, but I get to keep my memories so the memes still make sense.
If I’m not careful, I’m going to get back into embroidery.
Digital pencil sketch in light brown of actress Tawny Newsome. She’s giving side-eye to someone who suggested she might have written a college entrance essay about Avril Lavigne.
Started watching the Lower Decks episode of Dropout’s Dirty Laundry, and had to sketch the expression Tawny Newsome made when she was accused of writing a college essay about Avril Lavigne.
I haven’t sketched in Procreate in a while, it’s different than I’m used to. Ended up kinda pastel-y.
I was going to get up and vacuum, but then my dog curled up next to me on the couch, and I guess the floor will just have to stay dirty.
Oh snap!
Little moments of joy: asking your friends to help you figure out why a formula isn’t producing the correct result, then fixing it yourself through sheer bloody stubbornness before any of them respond.
Relatedly, the serenity prayer is for real pretty darn good y'all.
If i died I‘d want to be known as someone my friends, family, and students know they could trust and confide in.
Many of us are scared and its fine to admit that. Many of us who are alone are terrified and its fine to admit that too.
Be a rock or a light or a beacon for yourself and for others.
If there are any kids in this Millennial retirement home, I urge you to take care of this fuckery in your 20s. Middle-aged You will be grateful.
I’m too old for this shit.
The layers on this one. 😂
Diagnosed at 38, here! Pretty life-changing.
Those are lovely! The ribbing is particularly nice. Are they knitted?
My credit score is going to go down for applying for a new credit card which I did to increase my credit score because my credit report dinged me for only having one card.
I could not hate this bullshit system more.
Excellent thread. I was particularly glad to read that there *is* a program for people who worked at fire camps to get into the fire service after their release. Also that they can get their records expunged.
Do not feel compelled to finish a book you are not enjoying or getting something from! No shame in DNF!
Please send anything you can to Jordan @indiedynamo.bsky.social, who lost his home, brother, and father to the fires here in Los Angeles. If you can’t donate, please share. www.gofundme.com/f/help-jorda...
Someone in my normally very quiet building is playing something with a very repetitive twang that is just loud enough to trigger my misophonia, but I don’t know where it’s coming from.
Probably time to get new noise-canceling headphones.
So cool! I love seeing how artists use light to imitate fabrics.
If you’re in the LA area and are looking to help volunteer with the fire relief efforts:

Volunteered for a few hours in Pasadena today at a site collecting donations, and it was really great to see people dropping off carloads.
Where I was they were looking for new items (used items were separated to be donated later) and there was a shortage of kids clothing, especially older kids.

I think tomorrow morning I’ll see if any of the places on this mutual aid list are looking for volunteers. Deeply appreciate whoever compiled the list.
I wish there was a convenient way to explain to the Muppet why we’re not going for our usual long walks, because ‘I don’t think they make N95 masks for dogs,’ isn’t translating.
Obsessively checking the Watch Duty app, but otherwise okay. Air is fucked, but I’m out of range of the fires for now, and the winds have stopped in my area.

SoCal folks - the Watch Duty app is providing live updates including push notifications re: fires, evac warnings, and evac notices, including full evacuation area maps. It's free to download and easy to use.
Adorable scruffy dog with the best ears sits on a couch wearing a sea green hoodie. She is very cosy.
Power has been glitching all day, but aside from repeatedly killing my computer, the wind hasn’t done any damage here. Still, the wind is howling and things are burning.
Have a pic of the Muppet in her new hoodie in these trying times:
