Finished @alexwhite.bsky.social's A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe today. Really - *chef's kiss*. The characters all have flaws in some way, which was lovely, and - obviously - FOUND FAMILY! I cried over a robot. Also, the epilogue! So many good things here. I recommend. Book 2 arriving soon!

6/ Why does this matter? Indie games are often bold, experimental, and deeply personal. They reflect diverse voices and creativity in gaming. Losing them isn’t just losing games—it’s losing cultural history.
5/ Gamers & fans play a huge role, creating patches, mods, and archives for indie games. Their dedication ensures that even lesser-known titles from small studios remain accessible and celebrated.
4/ Legal wins have made it easier to preserve abandoned online games & crack DRM on unsupported titles. This is especially key for indie studios, where financial or technical constraints may lead to games being "lost" without preservation.
3/ Digital libraries, like those by Internet Archive, save games, manuals, and artwork. For indie titles, often distributed digitally, this is critical when storefronts shut down. Without preservation, access to these unique works could vanish forever.
