In the past we’d never quite gotten our website organized with all our mini comics on display and for sale all at the same time.

Now working on fixing that. It’s taking longer than what is preferable. But incremental progress is still progress…

Art is created by human beings.

Art is not stolen pixels from other artists’ work regurgitated into new digital images.

Art is heart and soul. Expression. Commentary. It can look Pretty. Or Angry. It is many things, emotions, ideas.

Creating art is part of BEING human.

Watching Thundarr the Barbarian cartoons for the first time;

am surprised how much better they are than I expected.

Doubly surprised at the nostalgia/kid excitement/suspension of disbelief that is all happening at once. 😂🩷

Okay— totally LOVED the Commentary!

Persevere.

In the face of the scary.
In the face of the unlawful.
In the face of encroaching darkness—
Let us be our brave, beautiful, creative, kooky selves.

There are more of us, after all,
Than they realize.💚

So, I haven’t worked up the nerve to make a personal artist account.

We’re starting out with self-publishing, but certain posts would belong more correctly in my own profile.

I *did* want to add my little character Alma avatar somewhere on the header, though, since it’s what I’m using on IG.

Movie poster of Fantastic Four: First Steps, featuring medium shot of the 4 members. The Thing is in the center, running towards us, right fist in front of him. Mr Fantastic is behind him, stretching towards us, on left side of the poster. Johnny/Human Torch is half aflame so we can see his face. He is flying on the right side of the poster. Sue Storm is centered, behind and above Ben/The Thing. The FF logo/movie title is inside a banner in front of Ben, angled on the lower right side of the poster.

After avoiding the inevitable, we finally watched the Fantastic Four:First Steps this weekend.

We LOVED it. Enjoying the Bonus features, too. Looking forward to listening to the Commentary!

It will prove to be an interesting day.

A panel from the comic strip BEST MANN FOR THE JOB. It is a medium-shot— from the waist up, showing Sheriff Grace Mann entering the driver’s side of the squad car, as a reporter who is interviewing her enters the passenger side. Grace’s word balloons state: “My first big case—“. “—telling an old man to fence in his cows.”

Some time ago we published a comic strip online called BEST MANN FOR THE JOB.

We’re aiming to print it before the end of the year. It’s a done-in-one story in a comic strip format. The cover art will be this panel from the middle of the story.

It’s written by Chris Well and drawn by Erica Well.

A cropped pencil drawing of a dark-haired young woman looking up “at the camera” into the branches of a Gingko Tree. She has just started reaching upwards with her left hand. Her right hand is partially cut off, and holds a basket with flowers. She wears an apron over a dress with 3/4 sleeves and also wears a sunhat. The cropped picture is from a mini comic titled “Afterward” written and drawn by Erica H.R.Well.

Buuuut … if the books in their inventory are on consignment, they haven’t *actually* bought them yet … so, they don’t *actually* own them yet, right?

Was never a fan of The Three Stooges, but two of their movie shorts are GREAT.

One of them —Punchy Cowpunchers —stars the late great actor/stuntman, 6’4” Jock Mahoney.

If anyone looks like the ideal spaghetti western model to draw from, it’s this guy. The man practically FLOATS as he stunt falls!

A photograph of the 5 actors portraying the Marvel Comics villains-turned-superheroes characters in the movie THUNDERBOLTS. There is a caption above them that reads “Not super. Not heroes. Not giving up.”

After having watched the commentary by director Jake Schreier, we just love THUNDERBOLTS* even more😍

We can’t be surprised with there being fewer places to sell actual Archie Digests, but happy memories of reading them and the sentimentality of that will make us miss them. 🫤

Yes, looks like we have a thing for lady sheriffs. Marva Wright’s story is set in reconstruction-era Arkansas.

So far my favorite cover of the Sheriff Wright comics published by @urbanlegendsmedia.bsky.social is to issue 2, drawn by @chriscross.bsky.social

The illustration is of a single panel from the comic strip BEST MANN FOR THE JOB. Sheriff Grace Man and a reporter are standing with the doors to the sheriff car open as they prepare to get in. The angle is from the waist up, at 3/4 view from slightly behind and to the left of Sheriff Mann. She is telling the reporter “My first big case—telling an old man to fence in his cows.”

Photo of cover to ¿Qué Es Amor? Which is Spanish for “What is Love?”, an 8-page mini comic written by Chris Well and drawn by Erica Well. The black and white drawing is a medium shot from the chest up, of a young blond man in a suit sitting at a desk, looking at the reader of the comic. He has a pair of tiny wings on his back. The young man is featured in the story and represents the Roman god Cupid.
