All THAT said, I believe there’s a GIANT difference between AI slop and AI collaboration for brainstorming/editing/beta reading, etc.

It’s a 🌶️ take, I know.

#WritersOfBlueSky, I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions about #WritingWithAI 🤔

Jokes aside, not everyone has access to critique groups or professional editors. AI can fill that gap in a meaningful way. Maybe it’s time we talk about how to use it responsibly instead of pretending it’s not happening.

#Writers question: what’s your go-to thesaurus these days? I lost my good Roget’s paper thesaurus in a move years ago, and no online tool I’ve seen yet can keep up with evolving language. What do YOU use to help you find that perfect word sometimes?

So I’m relatively new to Blue Sky. Are there any feeds I’m missing? Like secret menu items that an Old like me might not find right away?

Oooh, I do enjoy a slow-burn friends-to-lovers! Might I recommend the “Heralds of Valdemar” trilogy, especially “Magic’s Pawn” by Mercedes Lackey. That’s a personal favorite.

If there ever was a symbol for the status of this economy, it’s the house we saw today with the garage door held up by a single 🩼.

Funny, I thought I’d left “done to death” in my comment but I see it didn’t make the cut! 😂 D’oh!

But yes, I fully agree with you.

I mean, look at Hallmark.

I absolutely dislike the “enemies to lovers* trope. Recently I read an apocalyptic zombie novel that I thought was going to be awesome and whoops! Enemies to lovers. I read it, but I rolled my eyes until the very last page & was left in a state of extreme unwow.

I absolutely love this! 😍📚

I was shocked. When I heard about this, I went down SEVERAL Reddit rabbit holes.

Enlightening, to say the least.

91 Percent Human: The Shy Girl AI Scandal When I was nineteen, I wrote a poem about flowers that never blossomed.

Somehow, I had missed the entire Shy Girl - Mia Ballard controversy until today. Found an enlightening essay about it, and I might look for more later.

For anyone like me for whom this story is new:

Counterpoint: I use em dashes with abandon and will not let "AI" steal them from me. I was overusing them first and will continue to do so long after "AI" is a crater in our financial system, or our merciless overlords, or both

This is exactly what I’m hoping to accomplish with my own writing. 📚

Thank you very much. ✨

It sold well, until the public outcry. It racked up 4900 reviews on good reads.

It was briefly published by one of the Big 5!

Isn’t that wild?

I mean, people are taking back the em-dash.

I myself have started looking for them in books published prior to 2022.

What a time to be alive.

As my partner says, “AI trained on something.”

And then we have the “Shy Girl” AI controversy:

#Booktok hit & author cancelled for failing to disclose use of AI. When called out, she blamed it on a “new freelance editor”.

But here’s what I find interesting about that-

The book was a HIT. 📚

Still, that’s the problem.

You can’t always tell and if you point a finger & are wrong?

There’s a MILLION discourses all over Reddit (my main source of info-I love Reddit) 😃 about what AI markers ARE and how to spot them and I’m over here like…

But what if some people just *write* like that?

2 days ago 1 0 1 0

But I’d bet a 💵 to a 🍩 didn’t didn’t disclose AI use.

I don’t know why I think that, but I do. Call it a hunch.

Might I be wrong?

I might be.

But I don’t think I am.

A disappointed otter

A disappointed otter

Writing this after reading yet another e-published short horror story today w/GLARING AI markers. 😒

That said, I didn’t immediately quit reading because I wanted to find out how the story ended.

Spoiler: not great.

At the same time, when I *do* see such AI markers out in the literary wild…

Polarizing thought OTD:

Writing with AI is like peeing in the shower.

Lots of people probably do it…

but very few will admit to it.
