Everything I can find says that the game is great, highly recommended! It's like if someone made an entire game out of that one good giraffe part of Last Of Us with Resident Evil gameplay and Vanquishishish vibes!

aaaand

you just need to treat the discourse around it like nuclear fucking waste

Since we're doing confessions I like TV Tropes, I'm not saying it's always used for the purposes of good but I like it anyway.

Makes sense. I'm not so plugged in that I saw the praise, I just saw the negativity.

I remember a lot of negative backlash at the time. Presumably overblown, this being social media and all.

It's time I came clean: I think "What is grief, if not love persevering?" is a perfectly decent line.

It's not all that bad honestly. Besy way to play? Controller, with some occasional keyboard and mouse to make navigating menus easier. Oh, and a browser window open for frantic searching.

I've always enjoyed the Khaak.

Screenshot from X4: Foundations. A spaceport is depicted, with a stunning Earth-like planet in the background. A rugged spaceship is docked to the right. To the left, the station facilities stretch out - scaffolding, fences, runways.

Screenshot from X4: Foundations. The viewer looks from the front window of a spaceship cockpit. Complicated buttons and dials line either side of that cockpit. In front, to the left, an Earth-like planet covers a third of the screen. To the right, a cloudy nebula obscures whatever might drift behind.

X4: Foundations, forever gorgeous, forever difficult to get a handle on, forever satisfying when you do.

This is true - they didn't have enough time to be a service!

All this time I've been working on a live service game and didn't even know.

Every game that gets patched is a live service game then.

In the style of @loveinner.bsky.social, now spinning (my favourite two Schubert Unfinished recordings):

The Vanska performances are a bit similar for me. A lot of folks seem to love them, but I'm just not convinced, even though Minnesota plays the shit out of them.

This whole cycle was just - fine for me? Like, it did the job, it was Mahler, some bright spots but not much in the way of fist pumps or shivers. It's gotten plenty of acclaim, but I don't connect.

Yeah but looks like a good one is super expensive and I have zero actual need for it but I always did want one of those.

I kinda want one of those gaming keypads, you know, the weird ones for just your left hand.

Very late to this one but Sibelius 2 is my favourite symphony and there isn't one recording that quite captures its perfection - but Vanska with the Lahti SO gets close. Colin Davis and LSO another favourite.

Now going back to his Beethoven 7 which deserves more attention.

Sibelius. The end.

Pragmata gunplay/hacking melange is cool as fuck and I thought Diana would annoy me but she's quite charming, what is this magic.

BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.
