Wow!! Yeah, Tennessee. I see why local authorities and others refused to cooperate with the filmmakers, given the massive police role in the actual events. But the film was not that kind of movie; it was never intended as any sort of procedural, but rather a character study and existential treatise.

LOVE this film. Read the book. Listened to the podcast. Not normally a true crime buff, but I found this fascinating.

People who saw the film before June 1996 when it got an official VHS release often have a fun story about how they first saw it or obtained a copy of it. I do, having gotten it about a decade prior to that. And I also recall buying the VHS the day it went on sale, and the DVD and the Blu-ray since.
