With CRCQL, @risestjames.bsky.social, and @afsc-org.bsky.social, we marched, we spoke out, and we tried to hand deliver a letter to Vanguard signed by 30,188 people (collected by @foeus.bsky.social). Vanguard refused to accept the letter in person, so we later sent it off in the mail. 📬

Vanguard is the #1 toxic investor, investing $182 billion in 34 major petrochemical expansion projects in the U.S. 💸 As this research was being released nationally and shared in a press conference in TX, we went to Vanguard’s HQ in PA to bring the research and our demands to its front door.
Yes, that's a great resource! Any any Vanguard customer ready to move their money out (or just ready to learn about what that would entail) can get support and be part of a collective total of money moved at eqat.org/never-vanguard
#NeverVanguard
So, what can we do?

@afsc-org.bsky.social, CRCQL, @eqat.bsky.social, @risestjames.bsky.social, and dozens of our friends went to Vanguard’s headquarters. We sang, we spoke out, and we attempted to deliver a letter signed by 30,188 people – but Vanguard wouldn’t even accept it. 📣 🪧

@breakfreefromplastic.org, @ciel.org, @foeus.bsky.social, and @peopleoverpetro.bsky.social released new research that Vanguard invests $182 billion in 34 major petrochemical expansion projects, which are expected to emit 98,000,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually! 🤢

Yesterday we delivered a letter, with 30,188 signatures, calling on Vanguard to start investing responsibly.
We were joined by @afsc-org.bsky.social, LA’s @risestjames.bsky.social and PA’s CRCQL, who shared how Vanguard’s investments are poisoning their air and making their communities sick
Check this out! From STMP and @eqat.bsky.social:
Vanguard continues to cave to conservative pressure and refuses to acknowledge that climate change is a profound and systemic economic risk.

"Vanguard could choose to be a leader in providing its customers with more sustainable investment options, but instead chooses to settle politically-motivated lawsuits that seek to protect fossil fuel interests over our wellbeing..."

But we believe that Greig, a former deputy budget director for the City of Philadelphia, cares about our city and our people. We call on her, as we do with all Vanguard crew members, to work together and help move Vanguard in a better direction. We’ll keep showing up until they do!

As long as Vanguard is the world’s #1 investor in coal, oil, and gas, votes against all climate action at the corporations in which it invests, and caves to pressure from Republican politicians, then inviting Vanguard leaders to your events means hosting a major driver of climate destruction.

The recent settlement in the case between Vanguard & a group of state attorneys general just underscores the chasm between Vanguard's values & action. Claiming passivity while financing fossil fuel expansion puts its customers’ futures at risk -- period. Read all about it:
